From STI to Tacoma

Little background...Im 24 yrs old, and bought an 08 STI for 0% financing and owe 27000 still on it(TV is 28000). I am looking into buying a new Tacoma DC 4x4 probably TRD Sport, mostly for the cheaper gas, versatility, my job and lower cost of ownership. My question is do you think this is a wise decision and how are finance rates with Toyota, Im worried because my Credit score is only 650 and it will be hard to let go of 0% on my STI if I get a shitty rate...

I think he means he can use regular as opposed to premium gas.

Yea premium gas and 380whp/392ft/lbs = alot of trips to the pump. Plus I drive 75 miles a day and work in a gravel pit. Im just worried ill miss the car a little...and miss the 0% ALOT

 

It all depends on your needs and what they offer you.
Myself, I would love to have a STI but it is just not a practical car for me. I have always owned a truck and could not live without one. Luckily STI's hold value really well and if your car is in good shape and low miles you should be able to sell it for a good price. However, your not going to get near 0% apr on the Tacoma but your insurance has got to be lower on the truck so that could save you a few bucks there.

 

what kind of mileage do you get with the sti? like elmx479 said,its what fits your needs. sti and evos are sweet cars but i cant throw lumber or any heavy big equipment in the trunks.

 

get about 19-23 with 93oct....The car is a blast..ill be positive 500 if I trade it in. Wish I could have both but the truck will really make life easier and insurance is a little over half the cost of my Suby..Im torn, gonna head to the dealer and see if I can get a good trade and steal a black taco from them as well.

 

I just recently went from a Cobb stage 2 2003 wrx tomy new Tacoma and I haven't looked back.

I tried to spin the regular vs premium gas argument too. The fact is that you will pay a littlemore for gas even still but it's not bad. I also ended up using premium in the Tacoma anyway, makes the engine sound better and gives more power, really though it's only like 2-4 bucks more a tank around here.

Sure i can miss rocketing around but I had gotten older was driving the wrx around like it was anything else and not doing much playing.

The Tacoma is also much more comfortable. Ride is better, it's quieter as farad road noise but has more wind noise where there was never any in the wrx.

It also handles great and I haven't once felt like it was a slouch when streaming around corners and whatnot.


I will say though that you simply wont get 0% with that credit score, not now with the way things are.
And on top of that they dont have any special financing on 2010s, you gotta wait till atleast next spring for that and the really good deals don't come until mid summer.

And remember when they offer that low financing it means you forfeit any rebates. When I got mine I did the math and found out the rebate saved me a few hundred dollars more than the lower interest rate was going to. I've got a good credit score though and got a pretty low rate anyway.

 

I have my 2007 Tacoma along with my 2005 WRX, love them both, completely different vehicles, and if you drive your subie right, you will save much more gas staying with your STi. Unless you offroad your tacoma, it will be boring as hell compared to your subie

 

i ditched my srt for my tacoma....
miss the fun/speed, but the truck is more practical for me. couldn't load my quad in the srt

 

Welcome to TW. I'd pay off your car, then buy the Tacoma and have the best of both worlds. I doubt you will get 0% on a Tacoma. I had to fight for 4.5% with very good credit.

 

Your assuming your gonna get blue book value when you trade it in. Reality is no dealer is gonna give you that, they're gonna give you wholesale price on your trade in. Better get it in writing what your gonna get for your sti before you start crunching numbers

keep the STi or sell it yourself...no dealer will give you what it's worth.
