It's not the offset, it's the backspacing. You need 4.5" or less of backspacing.

I heard that back spacing will stress alot on the original studs or the hub assembly...

It can if it is insanely excessive. 4.5" is normal.

Offset is a result of backspacing.

Yes, they do make them with some offset but that is only because of the backspacing. I realize you are worried about stress on the suspension, but you are reading into it too much. There are members sporting wheel spacers up in the 1.25" range to keep the tire from rubbing the UCA's. This changes the backspacing (and the offset) to the negative and pushes the wheel out away from the frame/body.

And for wheel fitment, it's not the offset you need to worry about. It's the backspacing. Look at it this way. You purchase an 8" wide rim that has 4" of backspacing. That makes the offset 0. Now you find another wheel that is 8" wide but has a backspacing of 4.5". That will give it an offset of +.5" (or 12mm). Now if the backspacing was 3.5", that would give it an offset of -.5" (or -12mm).

Offset is just where the mounting surface sits in relation to the centerline of the rim.

A lot of Tacoma rims end up with a 12mm offset. The offset will not effect your suspension.

so say you wanted the rims to stick out past the fenders.... you would want a back spacing of 3.5" or 4.0"?
