    Hello Fellow Taconian's

    I'm a newbie. I'm buying a 2007 Taco Ext. Cab, I4 2.7L w/ AT, 2WD, Black w/ Graphite (grey) interior and SR5 package within the next day or 2.
I think I got a good deal. The build price on the Toyota website was $21,205.00 and I was quoted $19050.00 + tt&l.

Anyway, I'm an old guy (56), live in the DFW area of Texas. I currently lease a 2003 MINI Cooper S that goes back in March, I also own a 00 Lexus RX300, a 1971 Leyland Mini Cooper and a 1963 Austin Mini Cooper. All the kids are grown up and out of the house. Yey.

Looking forward to enjoying my new Taco and visiting here often. I'll post some pictures as soon as I take delivery which may not be for a couple of weeks yet.

    Regards
    CasaTaco

    welcome to the forum.
i beleive your '63 mini cooper will fit in the back of that new toyota truck. I am an avid mini cooper fan, having done quite a few rallies up in the new england area years ago. I had a choice of buying a new cooper or a toyota tacoma 4x4 a year ago, the tacoma won out.
I decided on the reg cab 4wd which i beleive will disappear from the lineup in a few years. I waited 2 months just for this model and well worth the wait.

on a side note, i am 60 yrs old and still customize my own trucks.

Well it's official, I bought me Taco today. It'll be here on Wednesday. Can't wait but I'm a little sad to see my MINI go. I traded it in and saved myself a couple of payments and a disposal fee. They gave my a Corolla to drive until my Taco comes home. What a dinky little car but I guess it'll do until.....

    Sunruner19

So you're familiar with the Classic Mini's. That's very cool. I've owned my 63 since 1985 and I just can't see ever getting rid of it. Unfortunately it won't fit in the back of the Taco. If it could then I could say that it's an auxiliary gas can instead of a car.

    Regards

None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
Casa Taco, welcome to the TW, its good to see see you hanging out with Sunrunner 19 and myself a bunch of oldies. LadyTaco won't tell her age and I am OK with that, she has one nice looking truck.
I have had a facination with mini's also , love 'em, used to see tons of them in England during my time in the Olive Drab, while stationed in Germany. Steve McQueen even owned one and he loved great handling cars.

Thats a nice truck but would be a BIG mistake to get it in automatic. The i4 2.7l engines is a sweet engine but just doesnt have the power and control for a weak automatic. If you dont want to get a real Toyota and not a grampa truck do yourself a favor get it with the 5 speed and have some fun with it...

    RompHard,
That's exactly what I wanted "a grampa truck". After untold speeding tickets with my former 03 MINI Cooper S I'm so ready to let someone else take over the left lane. I'm just now learning how to keep my speed at 70mph and under and hopefully keep out of trouble with the law. The Taco is just my going to & from work truck. I still have my Classic Mini's for speed, excitement and handling.

Here's my 1963 Mini (Black & White) hanging out with it's bud's in the Texas Hill Country.

great pic there, casa! brought back memories of my '63 that i did quite a few New England rallies with. Unfortunately, New England weather did a number on it, and i had to retire it due to severe rust from the salt water air. Changing 12" tires on the mini was as easy as picking up a dozen donuts at the local coffee shop.

I'm just glad to see some one else in TX on this forum. What part of the hill country was that in? Looks like a lot of fun. I've always liked the mini but never owned one, I almost convinced my girlfriend to get one but we went with a WRX instead and that car is a blast to drive.

Houston, but I have a job offer in San Antonio that I am looking real hard at.

I have lived in 5 states and 7 different cities since 1999. Hopefully San Antonio will be a permanent base of operations. :)

The picture was taken during a pit stop in the Bandera/Boene/Comfort/Lukenbach area of the Hill country. There's some good driving roads down there just made for Mini's, and motor bikes. We'll be doing another run this coming April.

    Cheers

I am looking at getting a lil 4wheeler this summer. Are those trails accepting that kind of traffic as well?

Good luck with the job, San Antonio is way better than Houston in my opinion, not as humid, not as much smog and just cleaner all around.

Sorry I've never noticed any 4 wheelers. Mostly what you see is the sports car crowd like Miatas, WRX's, Corvettes and old classic cars. Lots of bikers too.
