Hi people! Well my truck is 7 yrs old now. I bought it brand new back in 2001 and I'm gonna keep it! It still gets the looks (I personally think the 2001-2004 has an awesome body style) Anyway one thing I can say about all of you is that when it comes to dropping big dollars on a vehicle you all made a wise choice-these trucks (compared relatively to others) are bulletproof and will pay you back in resale and reliability!

I agree that the 01 to 04 is a great looking truck. personally i dont have a preference between those and the 2nd gen, i just got the 2nd gen cause of the power and the fact i wanted something new. BTW, whats up with the comcast.net handle? we had another member sign up with a similar name and just wondering if there was a connection between you two. Welcome to TW

Welcome to TW, yes the 2001-4 are good looking, I was going to get one but could not find one that wasn't overpriced.

Ridge... absolutely right on the financial aspect. I bought a 2002 Taco in 2004 for 20k, put about 80k miles on it...only service was one cv joint and a new steering pump, then resold it a month ago for 18.1K......
These things run forever and hold their Value.....wise choice...

I agree on the body styles..Gen #1 was a much nicer body style...
    But, change is good...I guess.
Wish they had the Gen#1 body with the Gen#2 POWER...

Hey Surftodd. Me too on the power, but I have to admit I'm content with what it has. My exhaust mod added 22 hp. total 210hp. But we're talking about a 3800 lb truck. I find it totally adequate. I remember not too long ago owning a GMC Jimmy that weighed around 5200 lbs with a 155 hp 305 V8---and I thought that was ok at the time....guess it's all relative. Anyhoo the newer Tacomas are a bit heavier than mine so they need that extra 40 hp.
