new to tacoma world. I just purchased a 2002 tacoma sr5 excabwith the 2.7l. I was wondering if anybody had some advice on a exhaust and intake for this truck? Also was wondering about an egr valve and if you can block them off? thanks

 

Welcome to TW! I am new to Tacomas, but I do have the new version of the 2.7L. I am also interested in the EGR-bypass/shut-off. It wouldn't hurt to do some other modifications either.

If you want something simple for your intake, a Deckplate mod. This is easier on the 1st Generation Tacomas as they have a wider surface area to install the plate on.

If you are looking for something a bit more powerful (and cooler looking), a CAI (cold air intake) is a great idea!

As far as exhausts, I would look at our performance section. Check this out.

i was looking at the setup and im just going to make my own plate and put it between the flange from the manifold and pipe to the valve.

Welcome to TW. Don't know about on your gen. of Tacoma, but on older toyotas you can block off the EGR without any problems.

 

im going to be blocking it off soon i let you know how it goes. also was wondering if anybody knows anything about these motors having cold start problems? it took me a few tries to get my tacoma started yesterday?

im from sabattus area and been in lewiston for a year now im from right around the area.

 

who else is in our area? we should plan a time to get together.

 

Not too many. I believe we are the only two from Maine. Maybe a meeting in MA or VT so those a little south can make it.
