I had three Rangers! A 1987, a 1992, and a 2000. They were all great trucks! I got 250,000 miles out of my '87. I moved on, though, because I need a slightly bigger truck.

Greetings. I had considered a Ranger before buying my Tacoma. They are fine if not a bit dated compact trucks. Unfortunately, Ford saw fit to force buyers up to the V6 to be able to get the rear access doors. Due to that, I had to remove them from the list.

I really don't get this mentality. I had three Rangers and my dad had three Rangers and those damn trucks would run forever. The most significant thing I ever had to do was replace a water pump.

In comparison, I've had warranty claims on my Jeep, on my Ram, and had to lemon law my Tacoma.

Of course, I did by another Tacoma.... :D

My first truck was a Ranger! I loved it. It was a county truck that had like 200,000 miles on it. I bought it with 1600 bucks worth of lawn mowing money. Drove it for like 3 years until the oil finally all leaked out. I had my own custom rust spot on the driver door where I hung my arm out the window. It was county truck yellow with kickers behind the seat. Bench seats too! Great for making out. Never had the "popping it in neutral problem... "

I leased an 4x4 Off Road Ranger for a couple of years. I can't even remember what year it was but I had it back during the Firestone tire recall. It wheeled pretty well. However, when it only had like 6,000 miles on it, it got stuck in 4lo. I had to drive it about 20 miles to the dealer on the freeway shoulder going about 15 mph. They replaced the transfer case plus some other stuff, about $4,000 worth, under warranty. That was the only problem I had with it.

Thanks, glad to see their are a few Ranger people lurking around. I'll try and get a lift sometime, but I'm in school right now (UK!) so money is sort of tight (well, not really. but it is expensive)
I'm gettin my windows tinted 15% all around next friday. I want a Viper alarm/remote start as well. And a new wheel/tire combo.

This is so funny, out of my group of friends we have three trucks

ford f-150 v8 is a "TRUCK" (black man voice)

Toyota Tacoma is a "Truck" (normal voice)

and the ford ranger is a "truck" (balls being squeezed high-pitch voice)

In 1995 I was looking for a new truck.
I went to the Toyota dealer after hours and found a Tacoma with the door unlocked and got in.
I sat there dreaming about how much I loved that truck and wished I could buy it.
I've wanted a Tacoma since that day.
I wound up buying a used 1994 Ranger instead. I liked the Ranger and they were cheaper.
It was a great truck. I never really had any problems with it.
I think I would still have it today if it hadn't been totaled in Oct, 2008.
The whole time I owned it I dreamed of having a Tacoma.
But, I drive vehicles till the doors fall off and some kid tried to take the doors off for me.
While I was sitting at a green light waiting for oncoming traffic a kid ran a red light and T-boned me.
I fractured three ribs among other things but turned out OK after 12 weeks of physical therapy.
Now that I'm older I decided to buy that Tacoma I've always wanted.
I'm happy so far but this whole Toyota quality issue in the news has made this purchase bitter sweet.
