leveling kits pros and cons.

Just received my first Tacoma 2011 D-Cab TRD Off Road. My question is Reno Toyota is trying to sell me a leveling kit from Truxxx. 3 inch spacer in front and 1 inch block in the back. What are the pros and cons of this type of lift.

 

Stay away from spacers!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Save lil money and get 5100s you will be happy. And get the TSB done

 

Then what should I get to level it out? And what is TSB.

 

depends on what your doing with your truck

 

To make it look good and moderate off roading.

 

The 5100's are adjustable shocks, that is what the previous psoter was refering to.

I currently have a similar leveling kit the dealership is mentioning which is a spacer in the front and back. I havent had any trouble out of mine but my truck is more of a work truck and daily driver.

 

Stock tires are 265-70-r16 can I put 265-75-r16 on the truck with no problems?

The 5100s is a shock you can set at 2.5 inch of lift and the TSB is add a leaf.. If your truck only has 3 leafs it should have 4 and that will give you a 1 inch in the rear

 

i think so, that's what size i have. but if you are lifting, you could go ahead with 285s.

Do you have to change out the gears? Does the bigger tires lug the motor.?

 

285's wont. Youll be fine if you dont go any bigger

 

nah, no need for that. not with 285's anyway. if you went up to a 315, then yeah. half this site has a small lift and 285s, idk any that have regeared or had to tune anything, just maybe have to trim some inner fender well. and with the 265/75's it won't require any modification.

 

I had an FJ with Icon coilover lift 2 1/2 that was alittle pricy just want to level out the taco and have a nice ride. Whats the norm for this type of request?

 

i wouldn't get icons for it, unless you are raising hell and jumping shit all the time in the truck. yeah, they are really nice and worth the money if you use your truck like that. but if you're not, just check out some of the stuff on toyteclifts.com. just go to 05' and up and check out what options you have. there's some good kits already made for under a grand. they also have the individual components, so you can pick and choose exactly what you want. most of the kits have options also, like a block or an AAL, so you can pick out what you want. they will give you a good ride quality. as long as you stay away from the spacers and blocks, you're good.

and if you're just looking to level the front with the rear and not an actual lift, adjustable bilstein front shocks will do that.

 

What would it cost for the shocks and to have them put on? just a ball park fig will do. Thanks for your help.
