not sure, its through a recruiting firm
should i look into Exelon (i know nothing about them)?

here are some excerpts from the listing:
"a global, $10+ billion company that designs and manufactures approximately 500,000 products connecting and protecting the flow of power and data inside the products that touch every aspect of our lives. Nearly 100,000 employees partner with customers in virtually every industry—from consumer electronics, energy and healthcare, to automotive, aerospace and communication networks—enabling smarter, faster, better technologies to connect products to possibilities."
"The Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) group which supports and develops leading edge manufacturing technologies and plays a central R&D role within my client, is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and goal-oriented individual."

Harrisburg is a total shit hole. I would seriously advise against raising a child there. It's been on the cusp of bankruptcy for years, if it isn't already. The last mayor ruined what was left of it. Violent crime has been on the extreme uprise for years. Shootings all the time. Even downtown. I worked on one of the remodel jobs at one of the schools a few years back. Completely nasty! Stay away!

Surrounding areas aren't bad (Hershey, Hummelstown), but stay out of Harrisburg.

I have to agree that the downtown areas are full of trash, and that the Rendell administration stripped all the cash out of all of the cities in Pennsylvania and left them with huge bills to pay.
However, the suburbs of all of these cities like York, Lancaster, Scranton, Allentown, Erie, and on and on are in pretty good shape and a decent place to raise a family.
The Harrisburg suburbs, especially the eastern side, have a more religious nature than the Pittsburgh suburbs, while the Philadelphia Suburbs comes in dead last and the Erie and Scranton are mixed around mid-level.
Having lived in NOVA myself, there is a little bit of a rust belt penalty for moving north and the Harrisburg area has 4 full seasons. Crossing the Mason-Dixon line you'll also find out that goodyear tires don't like to stick to cold and wet unless you air down.
School districts in PA are VERY important when choosing to raise kids. Sadly we have teachers unions here and once infected with apathy it takes a whole lot of suburban mothers a whole lot of time to clean the infection.
I suggest selecting your denomination and contact or visit them before choosing a place to live.

I have to agree, but compared to Harrisburg or the other major metros in the state, Philly definitely has the least religious undercurrent.
Hell, the Lehigh Valley isn't all that high either, and we're considered a suburb of New York more than a suburb of Philly.
There's something about urban areas that seems to have an aversion to religious values.
I have a stepdaughter that graduated from Penn State Hershey and decided to stay in the area, and I was a little surprised by all the religion.
Plenty of good food, but most of the streets roll up by 10pm.

Lets not turn this into a union non union thing. Harrisburg just sucks. Get out of it and things get better.

This isn't a union thing and don't insult all the good unoins by lumping them in with the shitty ones. Pennsylvania is home to some of the best unions in the country, especially the trade unions. The USW in Harrisburg is flat out awesome. PM me if you want to continue or we can start another thread.
You can't address quality of life and raising a family in PA and ignore the 600 lb gorilla of school district quality.
I wouldn't mind relocating to south central PA, but I would aim for the burbs or rural areas.

Shall issue. Open carry. The Attorney General ( Kathleen Kane D )has some shady issues being introduced behind closed doors, and silent media coverage about repealing the Castle Doctrine, one gun a month, and complete firearms registration on all firearms.
