Mostly bad stuff, no offense, but that's just what I've been told by numerous people. Most people said it's not a bad place to visit, but that's it, just visit, never wanted to live in New York. I guess they kind of mean it like Las Vegas. Good to visit but that's it!

I don't particularly like the city, but outside the city can be mostly country side with farms, etc and smaller cities scattered here and there. Just like Nevada isn't like Vegas throughout the state. Although there are a lot of stupid laws that apply statewide. And then there's separate laws for NYC. Like I could get a pistol permit in NY in my county, but it's not valid in NYC even though it's the same damn state. Our taxes are probably higher due to the City too. Personally, I think it should be it's own separate state just so we don't have to deal with that crap.

Believe it or not, the majority of the people in the state don't talk like they do near New Yawk City and as is depicted in TV and the movies.

I was born in Amsterdam and have lived in New York State my whole life, and listening to that NYC accent makes it hard even for me to believe we are in the same state.

I'm in Saratoga Springs... anyone had any luck around the Capital District??

And lifelong UPSTATE New Yorker (and Red Sox fan)! Amazing when you say "north of Albany", many people reply "Isn't that Canada?"

XXXX2 On being it's own State or whatever. You are right on the Taxes, ours would be alot less without them!

Thought I'd pass this on to the members in NY. Take a 3hr online class (that supposedly you can stop and come back to later) instead of the 6hr driver improvement class to get a point reduction and 10% discount on insurance for 3 years!
