Taxes suck but either way there isnt much difference in the amount i will have to pay year by year percentage wise, i would have to pay self employment tax, but write offs would pretty much even it out to paying the same as if i am an employee. Just a pain in the ass writing a big check at the end of the year rather than getting one from the government

True. I would probably get shit insurance though haha. Plus im banking on my girl to get a job with good benifits lol. You guys make good points but the main thing that is influencing my decision is the new job is the type of stuff i want to do, so i will probably be happier. What i do right now is definitely not the type o work i want to be doing for the rest of my life.

    Evan,
I've owned my own business for 7 years total. Had a break for 11 months being hired our #1 client/customer. Went to work for him and loved the lack of worries (money coming in, money going out, finding work.....), however, being under someone's thumb feels horrible after the freedom. We reopened the business a short time ago and I couldn't be happier about it. All you have to do is the math, if it makes sense go for it, if it doesn't, don't. I will be on the women's health insurance soon which is actually the biggest worry I've had being out on my own. Good luck man!

Or maybe i should just find a new job, i finally got the call i have been waiting for, time for me to make some big decisions.

    Pros of new job:

50% pay increase as a starting pay over what i make now I Like :D
All very high end work for big money customers I like :D
I will learn alot, the guy hiring me is very skilled in wood working among other trades I like :D
It will be all 1099 so no taxes taken out of my weekly paycheck This sucks :( should be in cons

    Cons of new job:

No benifits anymore, i have health, dental, 401k plus the usual disability and workmans comp That alone is a no for me
No more work van, the tacoma will be my full time work truck Sucks
No more slacking off at work (ie. no checking tacomaworld during work hours) No big deal
Self employment will make it harder for me to get a mortgage Suck
Possibility that work may not be as steady Suck
I will have to get better contractors insurance and my own health insurance Suck Suck and Suck $$$$$$$$$$$$

What do you guys think, i am leaning towards taking the job, i really dont want to be stuck with the company i work for now for the rest of my life Just my opinion but I would say nope not a deal worth leaving a job for

Thanks, another huge part of it is i want to make a name for myself, dont just wanna be another carpenter that works for some company. I can pick up some great skills working with the new guy, stuff most guys in my field will never get to do. When it comes down to it i have never cared to much about money, whats more important to me is being happy with what i do.

Depends, there are write ups that use temps as low as 200 and as high as 300. I used 250 for 10 minutes and it worked.

I'd stick with the current job and hustle more cash jobs on the side. Cash is king

    Broil for an hour

I've baked my lights twice now, once to do the SWHLM (Superwhite Headlight Mod) and once to do the projector retrofit. I will need to bake them again to fix the projectors also. I have had 0 moisture issues, just take your time when you seal everything up and you'll be fine. It's really a simple process.

No kidding. The new one I got as a damaged item. It has a little nick on the side. But the classic need to go. It will look awesome in you bedroom for putting your clothes in.
