Yikes. If I was cutting 1/2 acre I'd probably move up to the gang-reel tow-behind style, haha.
My front yard is mostly vegetable garden, and the back yard doesn't have much grass yet. We just bought the house last fall, and I spend most of this summer reclaiming the back yard from the scrub that had grown up in it over the last 10 years or so.
I can do the entirety of my grass acreage in about 30 minutes.

I used to mow twice a week Wednesday after work then a good clean cut bag and edge on Saturday. Wed I would be out there for three to four hours and Sat would be all day. I fertilize the hell out of my lawn and it used to grow like a weed

I don't care that much about my lawn. The only fertilizer it gets is what the chickens drop on it while they're foraging, and they're only allowed in between growing season for the garden (little bastards kept getting into my vegetables, so I fenced the yard).

Also, my lawn is probably about 1/2 dandelions, which is great in the spring when I harvest the dandelion greens, but it doesn't make for a particularly pretty yard.

I always used the mulch and self-propel on my yard, a shade under an acre. It would take about an hour and 15 min or so.

If you don't like fall cleanup a tractor would be ideal for you. That thing saves me a lot of time and effort.

I have an old Lawnboy that has the mulching blades. I run over the lawn once with that, then again with the bagger to clean up. If I just run the bagger, it fills up too quickly.

If all it takes is beer, absolutely!

This weekend will be fall clean up for me. I was soo mad last weekend, my chainsaw wouldn't start  It's ok though, I sharpened the old rusty ax and took care of business. This weekend I have to cut the bushes way back, clean up all the leaves, give the truck it's final detail before the winter and I might get ambitious and get after the rust that's spreading like cancer under the truck.

Any of you folks fight the rodents this time of the year? We have been setting traps and got two field mice to date, but I have to believe there are more to be found. After we moved in and began doing the house work in July, the amount of mouse shit EVERYWHERE was unbelievable.

Underneath the stove, in almost every kitchen drawer, every nook and cranny in the basement, the attic had 4 or 5 skeletons. I am looking for the most efficient way to rid these suckers once and for all. Poison traps work great, but I know they can allow some stink after a few weeks.

Any experience with the audible noise repellents that just plug into the wall?

I used to be one of those guys you'd pay to clean up. I worked as a landscaper for 5 - 6 years through high school and college. I actually got pretty decent at trimming back shrubs but it is a lot easier with high-powered commercial shears.

The trimmers I have now power thru almost anything I need them to. I will start doing my own again next year and probably buy some good comercial tools. I would love a pack blower or one on wheels

My house has the cat mod installed and a dog backup system. Between those 2, they keep critters away. I do have traps set, just in case. I put peanut butter on the trigger and put the trigger side against the wall.
