I bought my Tacoma without the tool kit or jack - now I'm trying to remove the spare tire and won't be able to do this without the tool kit. Does anyone have a kit to lend me for 15 minutes so I can drop my spare? Or does anyone have a kit to sell?

I tried a few junk yards in the area and no luck so far.

    Justin,

I'm in Naugatuck. Here's a photo of what came with my '13. The top of the hook (outer ring) fits into a slot. I think you could make something with a 5/16 thick x 1 3/4 OD washer and a rod welded on the end. Overall length with one extension is about 32". I'm thinking you could weld a washer on a rod and then place a pair of vice grips on the rod to lower the tire.

Great idea on making one - I think that hook looks pretty common. Common as I've seen it used in other vehicles. Thanks for the pic and the reply!
