yea... i just get the impression that some parks are in it for the money, and other are doing it to help out fellow wheelers have somewhere to play.

You gotta remember....it's not cheap to maintain an offroad park. Other than maintaining the land/trails, they also pay big insurance rates which are constantly increasing. They've gotta offset the cost somehow.

Either you pay up and help them stay in business....or... they don't survive and there'd be nowhere else to go.

i understand those things, however i just dont see how it it really costs them that much, how does a park like Harlan do it? and on top of that Harlan leases their land so they have that much more expenses... of course all trail maintenance is done by local clubs there. i'm not saying its wrong for them to charge to ride, just saying it seems kinda odd that other places are managing to do it for so much less. RC isnt the only place that charges alot, there are plenty others as well.

ohh well, as said before, other than the last weekend it should be a possibility for me. as long as the funds allow and i have a bumper back on the truck by then. ughh.. the list of things to do never seems to end!

"yeah man, this is only for 4x4s and Trucks with skid-plates, that really want to wheel. also please dont post on this thread if you not coming. Trying to keep this thread clean!"

thanks for posting up some very useful info., you seem to know alot about wheeling but this was a thread about who can go wheel it's starting to get off topic.

ChocoTaco08...it's all up to you. take a look at some of the pic's on RC's website. I would hate to see you or anyone wreck their rig for any reason. Sometimes I hit them other times i wheel all day and never come close to hitting them. again, it's your call.

Let me if you'll join us...it's going to be a good time!!!

as far as the cost goes, I am the first to call bullshit,, thats because i am from Washington state where all the offroading is FREE.99 and its better than anything you will find on the east coast

that being said, i have no choice but to pay if i want to ride in something other than mud or sand :/

I've wheeled a stock '03 4Runner, a highly modified '03 4Runner (Hoes, OME in the back, Shrockworks bumper, custom sliders, custom skids, custom rear bumper), a '02 Tacoma with an open-diff/Hoes/Dakars and a stock '05 Tacoma TRD double cab at Rausch and am confident that as long as you are careful, you can wheel any 4x4 Tacoma there. There are some trails that will tear up any truck on the board, but there are also some nice beginner trails that will provide you with hours of fun without breaking your truck (pending control of the skinny pedal).

On cost, I know the folks who run the park (they live in a few miles down the road from me in Camp Hill, PA) and I promise you they are committed to the sport. Nobody is getting rich off of it and there are lots of costs (insurance, taxes, the leases) that go along with running the park. I was shocked at the cost at first (I grew up in Texas where there are lots of free places to wheel), but after talking to the folks at Paragon (RIP) and Rausch, I didn't feel quite so bad. Considering it costs me $50 to take my family to the movies for 2 hours, I think it is a steal.

I'll sign up to lead a beginner's group if needed. I have been lurking on the board for a while and would like to meet some local folks.
