Yeah, I think I'm the only one around here with a plate steel bumper and soft shell.

Bestop. I like how it comes off, but I rarely take it off, the zippers can be a pain in the ass, and the vinyl windows crack in really cold weather. So I want to replace it with a fiberglass shell, but they're 3x what I paid for this one.

I've been thinking about getting the extang solid fold. Easy to remove.

It serves it's purpose. I don't like the fact that the zippers can break and pull out from the stitches, or that the plastic parts that hold the corners down are nearly worthless, or the fact that the clear vinyl cracks in cold weather meaning you can't open the back window when it's below freezing. And don't even THINK about taking the damn thing off once winter sets in. You need a nice warm day for everything to be soft, flexible, and stretchy.

I had a bakflip solid folder. Easy to flip up out of the way, but I found myself having it up nearly every load. Even taking the kids' bikes somewhere while laying down the handlebars were too tall. My wife didn't lay to cove back down or secure it one day bringing bikes home. She and left it flipped open toward the cab, and the wind flipped it back toward the tailgate so hard it ripped the hinges apart. That was $500 down the drain in an instant.

Good point. Maybe I'll just take that money and get a bumper! :)
