You don't need to take the nut off to pull the diff. You just need to remove the drive shaft and the two axle shafts. I don't recommend taking the nut off again. You wont gain anything by taking it off. To check for play only remove the drive shaft.

This is the one my lady approves of. With her back and all, this was a easier sell lol. What model do you have?

They are comfy. I have the Eezi Awn 1400. Bought it 5 years ago. This was when I was first dating my now wife. She thought I was crazy spending that kind of money on a tent. After her first night in it she said we're never going camping without it.

She's not quite sold on my next purchase (rock jock 60s) but I think it'll grow on her.

Good luck finding an e locker in a junkyard. I found a few but they are spendy and mine came out of a 4runner with 4.30 gears. 4 runner force. Com up in Vancouver Bc has em for 295

I was never planning on selling it. I love the truck and does everything I need/want. I just didn't know if I was going to keep modding it or not. I've decided I don't want a sports car. They're fun but kind of useless around here. I used to have fast cars and I recall getting too many tickets. I do miss my bikes. I'd love to get another R1. Being that I wont be getting a bike I'm just going to enjoy the truck. I plan on Rock Jock 60s 3 link front and rear. I'm trying to get Wyatt to install the 3 links and I'll be doing the rest. I'll make it into my camping/wheeling truck. Kind of what it is now but on more reliable parts and bigger tires.

^^^That would be awesome! I keep hoping I would win the lottery or something so I can send my Tacoma down to Wyatt and he could turn it into something badass!

So I bought a k&n air filter today for my Tacoma and was thinking could it really be as bad as everyone says I mean we live in the pacific northwest so the dirt is not an issue here

It'd definitely not cheap. I'm tired of breaking stuff so I figure might as well do it right once.

I'll still be attending the meets. My truck isn't really wheel able in it current standing so I wont be going this year but once I get it fixed up I'll be joining you guys. I'll try to park down the street from you.

I'll let Rob have his glory this year. :D I'm still on 35s with a lift, skids, and all that stuff. I just don't want to break anything and have to dump more money into parts I'll be cutting off shortly. My steering rack skips teeth and all 4 of my shocks are blown. Don't buy used coilovers is all I can say. I blew them on my first trip out to Manastash.

How'd you trash your steering rack?

Running 37s with bead locks aired down to 0-10 psi on everything. I think even 35s are too much for the steering rack. This is my second one that I've damaged.

The steering racks are a huge weak link. Mine is leaking fluid a significant amount of fluid from somewhere. I've started bouncing around the thought of putting hyrdo-assist on it. Just to take some strain of the system.

It's doable on trails where you keep moving. If you start having to crank your steering wheel and do 52 point turns then you put a lot of stress on the rack. It's the being stationary and having to turn that kills them. Playing in rocks makes it even worse. I'm locked in the front diff so that doesn't really help much.

How would you mount it? I've thought about the same but adding a steering box and getting rid of the rack all together.

Me too. When the front locker is engaged in the rocks, I pretty much can't turn unless I am moving... I saw a steering rack upgrade for 2nd gens somewhere recently (can't remember where now...) I wondered if it would be worth it to upgrade to it or not though.
