Yes, balls = hot. When we were in TSF my A/C button started flashing at me, so I think that might be an indication that it needs to be charged. Haven't done it myself yet, so I'm curious what others experiences are.

I'm glad you did all the ball touching to find out for us.

Did it on my Accord with the old refrigerant (RC124? I forget which one is which). It was pretty easy but requires a few special tools. It basically comes in a spray can with no sprayer, and you have a special cap with a hose and dial to release the stuff. You need to know if the system is liquid charged or gas charged. If gas, hold upright, turn it upside down for liquid.

I had a cheap kit with no dial, so I just released the gas until things got cold inside. I had to do it a few times over the course of a month, but it held. Tried the same thing in a Pontiac and it never worked, guessing there was a leak in the hardline.

Interesting. Never heard about the AC button flashing..

Gotcha! My brother mentioned it to me last night when I brought it up and I've been skeptical about the DIY ones.

Tomorrow starts my agonizing upper/lower ball joint removal, shocks replacement and UCA bushing replacement. Going to be a hot mother..

Yeah, me either. I rarely use A/C, so I doubt it needs to be charged. I may need to consult "the book"...

Edit: sounds like it's caused by a faulty a/c clutch relay, something yotas in general are notorious for (news to me :notsure:). $15 relay, but easily remedied by turning it off and back on. Still weird though.

Joe - don't forget that you can charge either high side or low side and the methods are different.

Tempting item. I ordered some rear spring stuff, and debating sliders or skid next.
