probably has a lot to do with the bumpers being up higher than normal and therefore, if rearended, the car behind the truck has a higher chance of wedging its front end further underneath and losing that critical crumple zone?

just my .02 (even though I want to lift mine :D )

While normally I'd say something like: "Yet another reason NOT to live in Oregon... this is EXACTLY the bull liberal law makers in Washington (mainly Seattle to be fair to everyone else that has to share the state with them) would try to pull!

Yes, we all give up some freedoms for safety, but the Constitution and founders of this country tried to maintain a healthy "balance" of sacrifices to gains... sometimes our elected officials forget that the balance must be maintained--they'd love to whittle away at our freedoms one by one!

Are they going to deal with the big rigs first? You know, so this wouldn't happen?

Half the trucks in Oregon will be in violation of that law. My guess is that it's another bullshit way to generate revenue via fines.

The opposing party should introduce bill to mandate all cars be lifted to match bumpers of these dangerous threat to public safety trucks.

    Just as retarded.

    Move to arizona already.

Oregon is a lot CA and a pinch WA. That sounds like a steep lean toward CA law, not something WA would do. Sure they enact some liberal and dumb laws, but certainly not as much as CA/OR. :p

^x2 I think there should be a minimum bumper height, and all those gay little "slammed" vehicles should have to be lifted to meet that minimum height.

Sorry guys, but I see some sense in this. Granted a 3" limit is way too low. It should be something more in the 9" range. But if you've ever seen an accident first hand where someone's lifted truck went over the top of another vehicle crushing the occupants, you might be more understanding. It's not pretty. 3" lifts, 6" lifts aren't that big of a deal. But when people start installing upwards of 9" and dropping on 44s, we're not talking daily drivers anymore. Safety on the roadway is everyone's concern. Now let the fun begin...

then make everyone drive prius' that are guided by computers.

what happened to being a free country?

maybe they should make A pillars stronger so cars dont squish under taller vehicles.

To play devils advocate, I have the right to protect myself and make my vehicle impervious to lesser vehicles...

there's also something to be said for the people who drive the Smart fortwo and the mini cooper, both of which have disastrous safety shortcomings.

Wow. Sucks to be In Oregon. We are living in the USSA now, so stuff like this will come up again, and again, and again, and again. Progressivism is a cancer i tell ya. Good luck guys! As conservative as AK is, i can actually see someone writing a bill like that up here, but fortunately i doubt it'd go anywhere.
