    5.29s and 33s would blow a huge dick for hwy speeds. Like holy shit. He would be almost 4k rpms I bet..

    Needs 35s at least. And en really doesn't help his crawl ratio..

    Once you g up a tire size you'll be cursing all the gear companies I bet :p haha

    You forget just how much higher geared autos are. He would be just under 2900 rpm at 75 mph with 33's and 5.29's.That's not much higher than you are now with 4.10's and 33's. haha Silas runs about 100 rpm less than you at 75mph on the freeway.

    But alas, yes, it would not be a whole lot of change in crawl ratio for him. Crawlbox would be much more cost effective.

    Eh... That gives him pretty the exact same crawl ratio as a factory 2nd gen with the 5 spd auto (3.73 gears and all). Just not worth the money... Either SAC/SAS with some like 6.17's or something or just crawlbox it. Or just live with it now I guess:rolleyes: haha

    Pretty sure you have 4.10's stock. Mark's Tacoma has the rare 4.56's from the factory aka he got them for free basically. Free 4.56's > costly 4.88's

    From now on I think I will just tell all 1st gen autos to get 5.29's... haha (not that this comes up much for me) So long as they are running 33's or bigger anyway. I know Konsta said that the 5.29's are weak, but Silas is doing just fine with his 5.29's and he is running 37x12.50 2nd gen MTR's. Although he is starting to go through CV's like Konsta does. haha

    5.29s may be OK for those with the 2.7L but not for me. 4.88's are perfect with 33s

    hahaha i would certainly not be doing a regear or a crawl box now. what do you guys think im made of? hell when im 35s ill still have 4.56s. cuz re gearing to expensive! i was just saying how I wish i was geared lower, not that i am going to gear lower

    Cvs have nothing to do with the gears. Just way to big of tires.

    I agree..but not. Yes for second part. No to first. I still think basic drive ability would be effected too much with 5.29s and 33s

    For me. Gears go as so

    1st gen auto

    4.10 up to 32
    4.88 for 33
    5.29 for 35s

    1st gen manual

    4.10 up to 33s
    4.56 for 33
    4.88 for 35
    5.29 for 37

    Probably because you were used to your 4.10's and then made the jump to 4.88's. Monte and Ben are still lowered geared than you (granted they have a clutch to put up with).

    I like where mine it is at for now. Geared low enough that I rarely have to do much more than barely touch the throttle to start climbing something and it almost won't roll back when trying to climb a big rock. It's actually geared low enough that if I do roll back even just a little it will actually kill the motor!:eek: It's not low enough to climb over that stuff by itself though, but people with crawlboxes say they have to put it in neutral to stop. The crawlbox will push through the brakes even! haha

    Ben told me that Chef Geoffs had closed down. A shame, really enjoyed meeting him. Great hospitality.
