Jasmine and I will be traveling through Oregon and Washington on a 10 day road trip beginning mid August. Can anyone suggest some places to visit other then the normal generic tourist spots. We will be winging most of the trip to decide on whatever as they come up as we pass through. we will also try our best to keep you guys updated on the cities that we will pass through :p

We will however be visiting the Tillamook Cheese factory for a tour since they have some bombass cheese that we both love

Day 2 of our trip will be at Crater Lake. What's the best camp spot for overnight camping inside the Park?

Day 3 and on are unplanned so far, but plan on being in Portland by the evening.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated by the both of us.

When are you going to be going to the tillamook cheese factory? I would also say some good areas to see in Oregon would be eastern Oregon if you have time.

Undecided yet..maybe Friday the 15th or the following Monday. Is the Saturday market still happening in Portland?

I haven't been through eastern Oregon so maybe that can be an option.

Now there's enough light to see it.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Seaside Oregon is a great coastal town by Tillamook to stay at. Go up to see the mountains. Silver creek falls in Silverton Oregon. Gold mining in central Oregon.

    Cool. Cool cool

we are planning on hitting seaside then up to astoria and across the bridge then back to Portland for the night. I used to live In portland way back in the day for almost 2 years but never did that much other then Mt. Hood most weekends. I also lived in Lake Wood, Wa. and Ft. Lewis when I was stationed up there.

After Crater Lake head north on hwy 97 to Crescent, then up the Cascade Lakes Hwy and Mt. Bachelor ski area to my stomping grounds here in Bend, then east on hwy 20 to the town of Sisters. From there do the Mckenzie Pass road... snow capped peaks, glaciers, and lava beds as far as the eye can see. This drive is the best for the fall colors. Have a great time!!

We just did a recent Oregon loop, came down hwy 101 from washington, if you like forts, visit Fort Stevens, and also Fort Clatsop (Lewis and Clark).

    Ecola State Park is nice.

Pass Seaside and go to Cannon Beach, it just seemed quieter and less touristy.

Bend was cool, we stayed at a hotel that night, good pizza and good coffee in the morning from local places.

Oregon Caves are neat as well.

We camped at Diamond Lake just north of Crater Lake, AWESOME campground. mosquitos were deadly though...:D

Mt Hood ski resort is totally worth stopping in at and checking out the lodge.

Hopefully that's a few more spots to consider.
