    Update 4/29/11
We are now planing on hitting Mormon Emigrant Trail (MET) out of Pollock 38.719781,-120.574272 it's about 30min from the meeting spot and there is a shit ton of fire service roads of that road. The road runs from Jenkinson Lake all the way to HW-88 so I'm sure we will have plenty of fun trying to get stuck up there somewhere. This is just a day of exploring so we can go wherever looks fun just hitting as many snow/Mud covered fires roads we can.

    The date
We will be doing this run on Sunday May 1st

This will be a 4x4 only run but most of us guys wheel with and empty passenger seat for the Prerunner guys ;)

    Recommended gear
    1. Shovel
    2. Recovery strap (A lot of guys have them that are coming but is not bad to have one more we also have winches)
    3. FRS radio/CB
    4. TP no bathrooms where we are going ;)
    5. Spare tire
    6. Basic hand tools just in case you break something
    7. belts and hoses are a good thing to have in the rig but not required
    8. Waterproof boots

    The List

    1. JLee & Nightstr ( Confirmed )
    2. coppert ( Confirmed )
    3. PRS 2 TiFJ ( Confirmed )
    4. stevenstaco ( Confirmed )

I don't have any suggestions as far as location. :( But I do know that El Dorado National Forrest trail closures have been extended from April 1st to May 1st according to their latest press release. There are talks of it going past that with all of the late rain/snowfall.

So I just checked the weather for Kyburs, CA really the closest town to Ice House and it looks good above freezing for the next 10 days high 60's to 70 in the day to the 40's at night now I don't know how much lower Ice House is but that looks promising if it stays like that for a few weeks.

Ice House Rd at Hwy 50 is about 1K feet lower (Ice House Rsvr is higher than Kyburz). Kyburz is around 4K, and Big Hill Lookout (right across the street from the turn up at Ice House Reservoir (not at Hwy 50) is around 6K feet. This is from Big Hill Lookout (they plow Ice House and this road in the winter as they have time).

But there are plenty of paved roads that are open and will be covered in snow. MET (Mormon Emigrant Trail) out of Pollock Pines (I was able to go up further than expected a couple of weeks ago...before we just got another 3 1/2 feet in the last week). There's also some paved roads that will be covered in snow on the way up to Ice House Reservoir. I just don't think you'll find any of the dirt roads with the gates open until at least May (I saw the report too). There's also Omo Ranch Road (comes in at 5K on Hwy 88).

Here's a list of the EDNF roads and their current status:
    http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/eldorado/conditions/roads/

Easter weekend may be out (wife's birthday is on Easter this year too), but I might be willing to go if it's the earlier date...as long as you guys don't mind pulling us "lower clearance" off of the snow.:D Can't go too far on stock-size tires because we bottom out fairly quickly.
