Trails Near Pinecrest Lake?

Anyone know of any moderate trails near Pinecrest Lake? My family has a cabin up there and this is the first time I will have my own 4x4 up there. Planning on going on some easy trails with the girl and the baby, so nothing too extreme.

Where in Pinecrest is the cabin

Go to the ranger station and pick up a map. Bunch of fire and logging roads up there.

Welcome. When are you going!?!? I love it up there!!!! Couple people from here live up in the Sonora area too.

Was just up there.
Crandall peak was a great trail, hit the last steep drop in bit however, and no way is a stock truck getting over those rocks. i have a mild lift, and took the connect trail back. BUT, super fun to that point, got to test the truck out and had some amazing sights.

A great book with some good trails up there.

Thanks for the responses guys. My cabin is technically in Cold Springs off Lassen Dr. I just got back today and found a few logging trails. I only had an hour while my daughter was sleeping, but I bought a map with all the 4WD trails on it. Most are just logging trails, but fun. Next time I go, I plan on going for longer trips and more difficult trails.

Right now I'm stock, so I stuck to the easy trails. I should have my lift on in a couple of months. I'll have to check out that book. We have a couple at my cabin, but they are outdated and only 1-2 trails are mentioned near Pinecrest.

Lot's of areas to wheel up in the Stanislaus.
Check out Sourgrass, there are some mild logging roads and connecting trails between them..not too shabby.

That would be the lava flow up the crandall peak trail. Past this, there are some tight moments, but until you get to the trail split, its all passable with stock height. I just didn't feel the last bit was easily passable as my truck sat.

I will have to check these places out next time. I'm hoping to get back up there before the snow comes and find some more trails. I will let any of you know if I do. Otherwise I will definitely be there for snowboarding this winter.

Hey guys, first post here. I live in Twain Harte, just a few minutes west of Pinecrest and Cold Springs. Back in High School I remember going with friends from Cold springs out on some pretty sketchy roads out the Clavey. There's also Mt. Elizabeth Road between Twain Harte and Cedar Ridge that I remember having some fun stuff on it.

I'm new to Tacoma World and it's cool to see some other people are in this area as well.

Yes, that is an awesome book! I just got it last year, but unfortunately I have not had time to do more than two trails since then.

I'll be doing day trips often to Dodge. Wasn't able to make it up once last year due to the new baby, but it's on this year. I also have a cabin if people want to do multiple days and some wheeling.

Haha, I wish. She is only 10 months, so she has a little while. We will definitely be hitting up the sledding hill though. Next winter its on. She is getting on a board and learning no matter what.
