Oh that's right. You didn't need tow straps. Jon needed them connected to his unstuck truck so he can attach them to your un-unstuck 4Runner.

Yeah that stuff is slicker than snot. Before they built the dealerships and houses on the Columbus we used to ride dirt bikes there. I layed my bike down on the side of this hill and every time I tried to get up I'd slip and fall. Glad you made it out safe and he kid had a good time.

Solano county cop posting up about illegal wheeling...behind a target?

    seriously?

I've had a few run ins with solano county cops wheeling at a some spots out by putah creek in davis before they got shut down and needless to say i'm a tad bitter about the cops in that county...this only feeds that disdain.

How many times did you NOT get caught? Think about THOSE times. Now compare that to the time you did get caught.

    Why the disdain?

Cops are people too. Granted, most of us hold them to a higher expectation but I'm sure not EVERYONE is innocent in regards to where they work or what they do for a living. Who got hurt in this incident besides the OP?

No one seems to have indicated how the OP's kid is doing. He have a good time? Cause if he did, it was all worth it.

I never said “got caught”. Fishing and wheeling in areas that had no posted restrictions as an adolescent is good pure fun and not worthy of the tickets we got. I’m not going to get into the nitty gritty with you.
But hitting up a mud hole behind a target is for teenagers and tools...

Well from my Tread Lightly soapbox...

If the property is private and you don't have permission it's illegal no matter who haves fun. Doing things like this brings negative attention to OHV enthusiasts and furthers action again OHV use by people and groups. Same goes for closed trails and areas that people still manage to get by. I for one have no problem calling in Forest Service if I catch people wheeling in closed areas.

Fact that the OP is a Police Officer disappoints me to some extent.

It was a spur of the moment wish from my kid 4 his birthday and it was the only place I ever saw people out. I'm new to the area and the only sign I saw was a no parking sign not a not a keep out. I saw that sign on the other side of the patch while being pulled out. That being said, thank you to the guys who helped me.

I must have misunderstood when you said:
So my apologies to you for getting the impression there were, uh...."run ins"...

As for getting into a nitty gritty with me, please don't. Not worth it. If I want to get into a nitty gritty, I'd get into it with friends. :)
