Some news on the Eldorado national Forest Trail closures

Seems that some of the trails will be reopened. With some still in limbo. No word yet on what will be reopened though.

Motor vehicle travel and parking is limited to one vehicle length (vehicle and trailer) from National Forest Transportation System routes. PER http://prdp2fs.ess.usda.gov/detail/s...TELPRDB5358248 used to be 150' last year . troubling ಠ_ರೃ

EDNF implemented that same restriction last summer (2011).

i would bet the stan adopted the policy @ the same time . got a heads up from a forrester who thought i should roll my rounds quite a bit further to the "road" . by his account offroad type laws are being upheld and enforced more this year than in the past . could be he needed that merit badge for his sash or they have the go ahead to shake down every last penny from a already emaciated trickle of cash from honest people who had to do a whole lot of ,planning ,driving and ,spending to bring us commerce up here . really , not trying to be inflamitory but these type of policys and closures are what creates the vacume effect on a community , allowing disintrested corparations to trive off "tourist dollars" instead of mom and pops getting by selling to folks who feel a sense of stewardship and genral goodwill that only a rocky ass 4x trail can give . that is all

^oh and good luck have fun mike

Here's the FS stuff. There will be public meetings which, if you can attend, would be great.

Litigation to block implementation of the plan was brought by anti-access groups wishing to have a court imposed result they could not achieve in the public process. This litigation focused on 42 routes in the Forest that had been proposed open under the plan. The court ordered these routes temporarily closed until the Forest could do future analysis of their proximity to and effects on meadows.
The challenge hinges on a forest rule that the court recommended be changed. The Forest has now done a complete field survey of all the routes and has offered the solution in this release. All of the Forestís high value/traveled 4X4 routes except the Rubicon are on this list. They included Barrett Lake, Strawberry, Deer Valley aka Blue lakes, Pardoe, Long Valley and many other fun and historic routes. We are very pleased the Forest Service has made this action a priority and offered a quality solution. We need your outpouring of support for this plan. Please review and comment by the Nov 7 deadline.

Hopefully, you can visit the FS link and at least provide some comments as you see fit.
