where to go wheeling?

want to go wheeling in nor cal...where are some good trails to go on...have 3" lift 285/70/17

I too am interested. everything I can find is pretty far away, at least from the bay area.

 

I've been to Knoxville up north of lake berryessa, but it's a little boring and flat for the most part. There are some more difficult side trails but they are pretty tight and narrow with lots of brush. Up in the sierras there are a bunch of trails, but most of them need sliders if you want to avoid trail damage.

I know a little place to just get some wheeling done, its not a big trail but it is a open field with little bit of muddy "obstacles" nothing crazy, but 4wd is required if it rains alot... pm me if you want to know. BTW, its in vallejo, ca

 

Didn't the fence off that field? I'm in Benicia and i thought i seen a fence around that last time i drove by it. I hate the mud i would never go on it but I thought it was fenced in now.

 

fordyce off eagle lakes exit on hw 80 is a good place to go wheel.. but its not really aplace for a stock rig. although i did take my taco with only a 3in lift and open diffs made it to the first water crossing... but it only gets harder after that..

 

Ya that lot next to Target is fenced off. That area was kinda fun i went there couple times.

 

north coast

 

Check out the Lost Coast. It's up by Usal beach and the redwoods. It'll be a bit wet and muddy now, so that might be fun. I've never been, but I've heard wonderful things about that area, it sounds beautiful.

 

Yes, they keep fencing it but the dooors are not there, i heard the fence is only to keep them bums camping in there out. There are no posted signs preventing people from going in. So far no one has told me anything. Havent had a problem. Just be careful and watch out for occasional people walking through.

 

Everything worthwhile is in the Sierras. You can run Eagle Lakes OHV trail which starts in same area as Fordyce. Can be done without sliders but damage can still occur if not careful. Signal Peak OHV trail is in same area as Eagle Lakes. But without much experience and sliders, you would be advised to take the easy way up which is located off the Cisco Grove exit off I-80. Depending on if the ban is lifted in the EDF, many more trails will be available along the 50 corridor. You can head up past Downieville and hit Gold lake off HWY 49. There are many trails that run thru that area that are semi-easy and a tough one in Snake Lake OHV trail.
