tunnel..almost done!!

Only one I ever did that was the tunnel under LAX.

There's a reason they have those "Do not enter when lit" signs... and they don't turn them on soon enough!

 

I drove past there yesterday on my way home from Carmel. Tunnel looks awesome, although I enjoy that dangerous part of the road the tunnel is trying to avoid. Looked like one hell of a speedy project too with the bridge that leads up to the tunnel.

 

I lived in Pacifica when the tunnel was started. Pretty cool to see if coming to completion. I used to ride my road bike to Half Moon Bay all the time. Coming back up through the Devil's Slide area was always a hair raiser. Especially in the rain.

I've never understood why you would risk taking devils slide when you can just go up old highway 1 over Montara?

Not looking forward to the increased traffic from retarded city drivers. Towns packed enough as it is with tourists.

 

I should add that once I discovered old route 1 I also discovered that Montara mountain has really good mountain biking and some of the best technical mountain biking in the bay area. I stopped riding my road bike.
