Lakes w/in 2/3 hrs of Bay Area offering some Off Road + Fishing?

Anybody know of a nice lake (big or small) within 2-3 hours of the bay area that might include some off-roading to get to and offer some fishing opportunities?

Sierra's are kind of far away, I'm thinking more of a day trip kind of thing.

 

Lake pillsbury, has both. Don't really know about the fishing but there is wheeling, campsites and a lake.

Lake Alpine is ~3 hours away if you leave when there's no traffic, so usually that's early morning or in the evening. Fish and Game drop off trout regularly.

Corral Hollow and Slick rock trails are right around the corner (you'll need a 3" lift, sliders, and preferrably armor)

 

Lol. I would but unfortunately its blown out this weekend. Contemplating off-road / test out new suspension tweaks or a live bait halibut trip.

 

Oh, so my friend confirms Amador is great fishing. But some good wheeling stuff too? Any areas to look at specifically?

 

Need a boat or can you shore fish? Never been to that lake :O

 

Damn, nice ones. My friend called them today, they said the fish are down deep now. Might just run the bay for Halibut now, but man I wanted to test out the truck after I add Daystar air bag cradles tomorrow.

 

I hear Tomales Bay is pretty good for Halibut.

 

Stampede, Boca rec area is 3 hours from the east bay. Also Prosser lake, same area, is a OHV area. All these lakes fish well and have wheeling opportunities. There's also good fly fishing in the Truckee river below Boca

 

Nice! Is the fishing good year round or is it seasonal?

 

No special regulations in these lakes. Normal season applies. I will add that the bottom fishing at prosser is good right now.

 

I think I will check it out this weekend. Do you have a preference between one or the other? On the wheeling part, not looking for anything too crazy. Still don't have sliders.

 

Well I went up this past weekend. Had some fun, perfect place to take the gf, nothing too serious. Only really needed 4x4 once or twice.

Nice going littleblue! Loved the video. Yeah everything is mostly flat around Prosser but if you head over to the east side of Boca Dam, those roads go vertical. I'm still trying to make it to the summit of Verdi Peak after some failed attempts due to snow drifts. But good wheeling for us non-crawler types.
