Climbing the dunes is a real workout. Finding dunes with no footprints is a really nice thing for a photographer too :D

Maybe you should have bought a Prius - cause the 4x4 Tacoma is a mountain goat. j/bb

We still have room this weekend for a couple more trucks if any of you want to come with.

I guess some of the roads are either closed or impassable for 2WD after this last storm :( Some friends are there now and leaving for Yosemite.

You guys are missing out. I've now been to DV twice since this thread was posted up.

Last week I was down there and snaked through the north end, coming down via 395 and Turning off at Big Pine on 168 then Death Valley Road. Did Saline Valley and Hunter Mountain/Lippincott pass/Racetrack valley Road. It turned full dark just as we hit Scotty's Castle Road.

I'd do Saline Valley road in a pre-runner, but I wouldn't go over Lippincott pass without 4x4 low range. That said - careful driving will get a stock 4x4 through there with no problem.

Pending school work load, I'm in. I was thinking of maybe doing a slickrock trip that weekend, but I think I'd rather hit up death valley and do slickrock when the truck's a little more built (locker and 32-33s) to hopefully avoid some damage.
Weather.com has the average high for may at 101*F and low at 73*F, so it'll be a bit hot, yeah, but that's what a/c, water, and shade are for
