Congrats, we bought our taco for the same reason no luck on the kid part yet, but soon. Keep looking, something will pop up! I though I heard of a red 1st gen in Petaluma on cl for like 18k with 55-60k.

Thanks johnboytrd.

Ya due date is mid Aug. I'm selling off my two seaters...
I see lots of double cabs on craigslist but they are all automatics, i want that manual tranny.

Just wanted to let you know that all 1st gen double cabs are autos. 2nd gens have manuals though. What are you selling the 2nd gen pickup for?

So all of the 1st gen double cabs are automatic...shoot! I like the 1st gen look better.
I sold my wrx wagon manual tranny so I could buy my full size dodge diesel which i got with an automatic.
That's the whole reason for getting my taco. Was fuel economy and daily drivability. My Dodge gulps down diesel at 13mpg city.

As for the 2nd gen pickup. Its changed since pictured. Caged back half now. I've got LOADs of new parts for it and don't know what I want to sell with it. I've had it the longest. 3rd vehicle I ever owned.

Right on! I still miss my wrx a little but the truck is way more functional/practical. Just a thought (flame suit on), you might get better or same mpg with more power for similar cost in newer Chevys with flexfuel. Haven't done much research into it, but pretty sure my father in law gets same or better mpg than I do out of his suburban with 8 cylinders :-/

(Flame suit off) but if you want to have toyota reliability and offroad ability... Tacos FTW.

That's funny you mention that; I'm looking for 4door Colorado's or canyons. Still just hard to find a manual.
I am keeping my eyes open for a forester xt. Maybe lift it up a bit for our local dirt roads.
Hard to get away from Toyotas though!

Most def. if you go forester... Find an 02-05, turbo and manual. Pretty much same engine as sti. My cousins with sti turbo (vf39 or vf43 I believe) and Cobb dp puts down like 300+ whp/wtq in Colorado... It would be a monster at sea level.
