Sucks... not going to sleep well tonight.
Hope the wind dies down/stays consistent in blowing towards the northeast.

It's now doubled since yesterday. At 4,000 acres. Emergency stuff is ready to go but I think it should stay on the other side of the highway as long as the wind stays consistent.

Just a few blocks away from the voluntary evacuation zone.. getting all are belongings ready. It doubled today, just like it doubled yesterday. Also went from 10% containment down to 5%.

If we are extended into the voluntary evacuation zone, my brother will come with his work trailer and we will load up as much as we can and move it to his place.

Quite a day! First I wake up to my truck getting broken into, and now its pretty damn likely my apartment will be a pile of ash by the end of the week. Go figure.

Thanks Guys... the fire is now about 12,000 acres. Wind is staying consistent (thank goodness) and pushing it away from whee I live so far. Every day it has almost doubled. Will be going to a community meeting for it tonight. Going to try and make a few calls today while at work because I work at a local agency and the National Forest headquarters is on the floor above me.

Hey Micah, there's a couple things you might want to follow. First is the El Dorado County Watch page on Facebook. It's only covering the fire. They have links to a couple of places to monitor this:

    http://yubanet.com/nevada/King.php

And for listening to the air attack: http://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/559/web

Been listening to the latter for quite a while (when I can hear it over the choppers and jets circling over us). Keeping our fingers crossed it stays on the north side of 50. If it crosses, you know those voluntary evacs north of sly park rd will become mandatory and we'll become voluntary.

    The Watch page:

Awesome, thanks for the facebook page. Yubanet and broadcastify have been up on my computer for days now! Yubanet is probably one of the best info compilations ive seen so far but I'll look at the fb page now too. Where are you located? I'm on Park Woods Dr... I'll be going to the meeting tonight probably, let me know if you are going as well.

Helos are going right over my place too, freaking loud but I don't mind it at all, means people are working at it!

Park Woods huh! We're just below the middle school. Before we bought here, we rented the green A frame house on the left on Park Woods just past the first Lakeridge intersection (second house) with the massively huge detached garage. Man I miss that garage! Both vehicles fit easily with storage and a work bench on the side. It was so deep you could park a couple smaller cars in front of ours!

Not planning on going tonight. Schools were going to reopen tomorrow but the advice changed and now they'll be closed "due to the unpredictability of the fire."

yep I just live down the block from there! I'm on the corner of Park Woods and Pine Cone on the downslope side.
I didn't end up going to the meeting. I think if it jumps the highway, we are going to start calling in my brother and his truck and trailer and get our crap out of here.

We're now on voluntary evacuation, so loading up valuables in case the mandatory call comes in the night. Hwy 50 completely closed at Sly Park Rd.

Really hope they get this one under control soon, but it looks like it might be a bit.. Initial reports are saying the fire jumped hwy 50 but another is now saying it hasnt jumped, but is burning right on the edge of the freeway:
    http://www.news10.net/story/news/lo...4/09/17/king-fire-shuts-down-hwy-50/15757597/

I would stay tuned closely because theyre saying its a big risk right now for it to jump across.

We can see the smoke from down here during the day and I swear its only getting bigger by the hour. Really hope you guys are alright up there and lets all pray or hope that it doesnt cross the freeway..

They're lighting back fires along 50 so that might be the source of people reporting it jumping 50.
