I understand your frustration, but there's no way those Sears guys were going to pay you cash for you to complete a private party sale anyway.

idk. I'm excited for leave, its paid leave n all. but it's going to suck not being on active duty anymore. gonna take a big pay cut :( still looking for a replacement job too. I'm trying to get on with a police department, but the hiring process is long and I have to leave for 10 months in february. I've been turned down by a lot of opportunities, asking that I start my process when I get back.

Well they kind of got mad at me because I said that I think their guy (5 days new) should be instructed on the proper way to remove the weights with the proper tool rather than a paint scraper SO HE DOESN'T DO THAT TO THE NEXT SUCKER. The new assistant manager (I have never worked with him before) told me AFTER I chose to replace wheels, that if I don't trust them to work on the truck (I told them I wanted a specific guy to do it) then I can take my wheels and go elsewhere. But I had already bought all the road hazard for the tires, and the warranties - and he said that would all be void if I go without having them install. If that was the case, I would have just asked for replacement value. But then I'd have no way to get the truck home. I have my stock wheels but no tires. And I wasn't about to spend more money there to buy tires for my stock wheels. As it stands now, I was told after the fact that my wheels have no warranty on them because they replaced them! It wasn't MY fault!!

Sears is one f'd up company these days. You walk into the tool department and they're all locked to the wall yet there's no one to help. There were a pair of sheet metal shears on the wall I used to cut what I wanted to buy off the rack. They didn't think it was so clever :D

Here's a pic of all the weights he kept putting on and removing on ONE WHEEL. He could not balance my wheels in four hours. The paint scraper he used to remove them is on top of the tool thingy.

So far, [knock wood] I've had better luck with purchase/install/rotate/balance with America's Tire company (Campbell, and Mountain View locations) than anywhere else.

The low point was some other tire joint (I forget the name) where the 'technician' told me I was "metal on metal" and needed brakes replaced. I had to point out to him that what he was looking at and tapping on was actually a quite thick and operable brake pad, not the "metal" left behind after the brake pad is worn down to nothing.

I like my regular mechanic, but they can't get me tires at anything like a competitive price; I checked.

So Americas tire is a good choice? I'm getting new tires soon (maybe even this weekend) and I'm trying to see what experiences folks have had here in the bay area. I know it's always cheaper online, but I'm actually interested in some of the warrantee/free rotation/lifetime alignments that some of these shops offer. Anybody who has any good/bad/meh experiences with shops in the bay area please chime in. Specifically in the North Bay.

Awesome. Good woman. Nothing better than a gal who understands the love of the Tacoma. Mine just bought me 5 new rims for my Bday, totally unprompted too! She just knew I'd been wanting them for ever. :p
