wth everyone i know are going there next week is there anything big going on in yosemite?

I save hollister for the winter when I need a fix and all the good trails are snowed in.

 

Just curious, can holister be run with stock TRD OffRoad suspension / tires?

 

Yes, the big thing now is to commit suicide off Halfdome in a pair of flip-flops.

 

When I was coming through Yosemite on Saturday, 140 was still closed and the fire was growing in size. As far away as Olmstead Point, you could see the smoke and the sky was orange and smokey at Yosemite Creek (also on 120). The good news was that numerous wildland crews were on the way into the park. The bad news is it's grown by 2,000 acres since Saturday.

The falls on 120 are still going too

 

The good news is the Iron Door Saloon is still there!!
The bad news is my friend is up there fighting the fire.

Theres a DC-10 here at McClellan thats setup for firefighting in Yosemite. Thing is ridiculous huge!

 

Yah. I'm telling you, the parade of wildland rigs heading up there was pretty amazing. IC says the fire still has the probability of going big quickly.

For those who know the area, the fire is near El Portal.

The good news (from the update) is the fire hasn't grown much. The expected containment date is 9/9.

 

im down. Might be busy since its labor day weekend.
I also might be going to Chico float that weekend.

 

Hollister blows.... only good for dead of winter everything else is closed wheeling.

 

I'm open to suggestions

 

Any trail along I-80 near Truckee

 

Or off that road to Sierraville. Barker Pass Loop is another suggestion.
Camping at Meadow Lake too.

 

I think i'll be heading to berryessa that day
