What are some good dealers you guys have dealt with in the Nor Cal area? Mainly talking about the Sac area north. If the dealer is known to wheel and deal I am willing to go a little further.

I just got my Tacoma from Antioch Auto. Jim Benham in their internet sales group was great to work with. He'll find what you want and give you a good price. I sent a request to many dealers in the Bay Area and he was the only one that agreed to find me the exact vehicle I wanted rather than what they had on the lot. I did all the dealing online, told him that I didn't want to wait long in the dealership when I come in to sign the paperwork...He had all the papers ready when I arrived and I was in and out in about 45 minutes....

New FJ. I went to the dealer in Chico today, he seemed like he is all about dealing, even though I know thats what they all say.

Hmmm, did they work with you on the price at all?

Hmmm, i'll have to give him a call when I get ready. What I plan on doing is calling up some dealers, telling them what I want and am willing to drive down right now for $xx,xxx OTD.

use something like edmunds. send out an email to every dealership within X number of miles from you. some will blow some smoke up your butt, others will pop out an OTD number. i bought my mazdaspeed3 like that. zero haggle. simple email, showed up, paid, and left. easy.

So do I send the emails out through edmunds or do that part myself? Sounds like some good information, thank you.

i think i used edmunds to check invoice price. exact package that i wanted. i got some number. say $21,000. then i remember a link that let me email an offer to local dealerships. i clicked within a 50 mile radius. sent some lowball number, and color choice. the oakland dealership emailed me back. with a "$21,200..and we have a deal" came with a color photo..i test drove it, and bought it. very painless.

then i sold the mazdaspeed to buy my tacoma...not so painless, between my wife being pissed, taking a bath with depreciation, dealing with idiot buyers...
it was not my shining moment of intelligence.

good luck, still...why are you selling your tacoma for an FJ?

Damn. Well the dealer I am talking to now seems to be willing to deal. I played with edmunds for a minutes, I just need to play with it a lot more.

I used Edmunds too. What I found amazing was the arrogance of a lot of the online salesman at Bay Area dealers. When I'd bring up Edmunds or anything else they almost seemed to shut down and not want to deal. I thought the auto industry was hurting but I guess it's not true for the Bay Area folks....I went to Antioch which is a bit of a haul for me but like I said they at least listened to what I wanted and were straight forward...He emailed me the invoices on several trucks he found matching what I wanted---so in the end I didn't even need Edmunds...I understand they get holdbacks etc from there and I will say, all of them were less interested in dealing for Tacomas right now---probably cause of low inventory due to the Nummi plant shut down...(he ended up having to trade another dealer all the way in Visalia to get me the truck I wanted) Toyota's not even giving their 0% interest deal on them....although I did get 3.5%...Other vehicles like the Tundra you can really get great deals on now...In the end, I think if you deal online you should probably be able to do most of the haggling by email...Trade-ins always make the deal messier though...

I would stay away from Hansel Toyota. They overprice everything and won't budge much at all. You should have more luck with an FJ over a Tacoma though for deals. Are you still going to be a part of this forum and come to mod days and off road meets when you switch over?

Well, starting to have some troubles with it and I feel like it is becoming a cascade effect. That and I can probably get a better interest rate and possibly lower payments. Also whenever I need to haul something I usually throw it in the back seat.

Well right now I dont think I will need to use anything. They had 2 FJ's I am interested in at the dealer, 1 Green, 1 Trail Teams. I was inquiring about the Green one until they called me yesterday. I asked what was up with the TT because there wasnt any papers in the window. Come to find out it is the truck the Manager has been driving because they dont have any Tundras. So I told him I wanted it but said "Now you guys better make me a deal since its used" and he said "You can deffinatly use that as a leverage point" So we'll see

Ya, they are bad ass. I cant decide if I want to keep my wheels and buy new tires, or if I get the TT sell the wheels and tires since you can get a pretty penny for them and just get some new tires.
