airing down tires with nitrofill?

I am down at the beach in oak island, nc and me and my dad were planing on going up to carolina beach for some beach wheelin but we are in his 2004 dodge 2500 4-door cumins 4x4 that is a very heavy vehicle so we thought that we would need to air down the tires for sure but he has nitrofill in them(they were filled with it when he bought it), so if he airs down his tires for the beach and goes to a service station to air up is it ok to mix the oxygen with nitrofill, thanks for the advice in advance

Yah, the gas station has air, not oxygen to refill the tires with... and air is mostly nitrogen anyway.

 

NO don't do it, the tires will BLOW UP!












JK, I had nitrogen in my tires on another car and when they got low I filled it with normal air. Only difference is that Nitrogen molecules are larger and tend not to leek as fast.

 

Oh no, whatever you do, don't add air to the nitrogen, it'll create a very unstable mixture that could sponteously combust!

Nitrogen fill is a gimmick. The only time it truly starts making a difference is vast temp differences like... indy car racing where the tires are going way over 200F, or sub zero climates. Even then... it's a marginal difference at best and one of many variables to help earn a win in a game where every car is so close to each other in specs it's hilarious.

Yes, it's perfectly fine to fill with normal air and mix it in with "pure" nitrogen. I doubt it's even 99% proof nitro they use anyway.

 

If you are really super worried about it, you could get a nitrogen fill tank. Like the CO2 ones. My buddy has one for their 360 Sprint car.

 

Every now and then, when we get new tires on one of our fleet trucks they'll slip in that nitrogen fill if we don't tell them not to. We just deflate the stuff out, fill with air, and toss the green caps in the trash.

 

I think we will just mix it and not worry bout it, it had nitrofill when he bought the truck, i wouldnt pay to have it put in, i think it is sort of usless as well
