No doubt - not for everyone. They are heavy and take forever to get. For me, I would be very hard pressed to get anything else.

This bumper will out live a couple of tacomas!

    Jim,
I do agree with you and also realize the importance of those bumpers. I am looking for one along the same lines as all pro and the others but I would like it to be a little less radical. Seems they take away a lot of the body lines. Bull bars are weak. Also bumpers like Avid which is a nice design but I doubt it really protects the front end much. Can anyone suggest a bumper in between?

Is this relentless fab? Hm.. Funny thing is, I think some of them look pretty cool, until you see it at the wrong angle. :D

Also, for some reason, on first gens, fj cruisers, 4runners, just about everything else, I think they look pretty sharp. I think it's just that most of them break the lines on the second gen taco.

I don't think there really is an inbetween. I went with an avid bar mainly just to have somewhere to stick my lights. I got in a little fender bender though and it did hold up.

The main weakness of the avid bars is where they mount, but if it takes an impact, the force pushes on the weak link between the aluminum crumple bar at the front of your truck and the frame. The bar will probably not bend, it will push that instead.

No - I am sorry if I wasn't clear in that post - I can do that way too often!

The name of that company is "Winch Ready" based in northern CA.

I think their stuff looks good. :)

These are the Relentless 1st and current gen plate bumpers. I think they look best. The 2nd Gen in particular comes all the way flush to the front fender flare and matches the lines of the truck really well and it barely sticks out at all up front, very tight to the grill projection.

I think tube bumpers look cheap and ugly and belong on longtravel dester 4X2 trucks only.

It comes down to this IMO... you want a winch? You need a bumper. My stock bumper is already all scratched up from going off road. No winch and a scratched up bumper is not an option. So the Relentless Fab bumper is the best looking option that is stronger than All Pro, not as blocky as ARB, and more available than Shrockworks. The Winchready looks cool though it looks REALLY heavy.

Engage Offroad long travel front and rear with some fat tires.

the baja bumper style does look cheap and incomplete, but in an impact, the tubes will fold in without getting shoved into the truck's body...

although the amount of force it would take to fold a properly built tube bumper would likely be too great to save the truck anyway...

i just rear ended a van yesterday and while the van owner is going to collect off my insurance, i am able to walk away from this accident with no claims... of course my insurance company wants to see my truck as they don't understand why i am not claiming any damages...

only thing that happened to my front end are some bent foglights...

plate bumper might have shoved into my hood or fenders... the tube bumper didn't shift...
