Recommendations for Mild So Cal Trail?

Any recommendations for a mild - medium trail in Southern California? A buddy of mine just got a new (old) truck running and we'd like to take it out for an run. Something that takes some skill to drive, but more than a graded fire road. (If we don't ease him into this, I'll never get him out again).

He just replaced/rebuilt the entire cooling system and wants to stay in the general vicinity of the Inland Empire.

Cleghorn, maybe, since it has easy with options of difficult?

Cleghorn should be fine. Walk the offshoots if you don't know them.

Christian,
Does Cleghorn have alternate routes to every technical section?

Thanks

Pretty much once you are in you have to go through it if you can't back up. The bypass is the main road. You will be able to do the first 5 or so offshoots with no problem. They same offshoots are worse when you start at the 138 side.
