Question 4WD vs. Chains

I still can't decide if I should get 4WD or a Prerunner. I am trying to think of scenarios where I would need 4WD. What is the comparison between chains and 4WD? I would go up to the mountain to snowboard...thats probably it...not go off roading in snow or anything like that.

If you are going to the be in the snow several times a year, I would go with the 4X4. I went with the Prerunner because I didn't think I would ever have it in the snow, well twice in the last couple of years I had to turn back trailing due to snow
If I was to do it again I would go 4X.

apples and oranges my friend, 4wd is for your safety as well, and is on at the push of a button. chains means stopping to chain up and chain down...

Aside from what eveyone else has said..... I'd get the 4WD.

However, If money is an issue and you don't or can't afford the extra cost of the 4WD, then atleast get the Prerunner TRD Offroad (with the locker).

4WD so worth it even if used only a couple times a year!

If money is enough of an issue having to choose between 4x4 and 4x2, person probably shouldn't be buying a new truck.

4x4. Although I don't use it that often, when I do use it I am happy to have it. It is better to have the option that to just be stuck.

There is nothing I hate more than chaining up on the side of interstate 80, in a snow storm, in the dark watching people in 4WD pass me. That said I only did it once in a friends car because I always have owned 4WD.

4wd. Bring chains in the mountains as a precaution.
