Trail Report: All-Pro's Death Valley Run - April 15-17, 2011

The trip started as we left All-Pro headquarters around 6:30pm friday evening to meet with everyone in the Bass Pro Shops parking lot. We met everyone for a brief moment and started the convoy to the ghost town of Ballarat, CA. We had 9 trucks total for this weekends run.

We got into Ballarat about 11:30pm and set up camp. Most of us were exhausted from the drive and caught some shut eye before the long day ahead of us. Here was our camp the morning after before we got on the trail.

We were all quite anxious to get on the trail in the morning and see the beauty of Death Valley. There was a local store that has been around since the 1800’s that we all decided to check out before getting underway with the run. One of the buildings still standing in Ballarat was the Jail/Morgue and if Vacant even a Motel!

The beginning of the trail was quite moderate but climbed in elevation pretty fast. Some of the views were incredible!

As we made our way higher the trail went through a canyon and spit us out at the infamous “Chicken Rock” part of the trail which has already had 3 rollovers this year!

After the “Chicken Rock” Section we made our climb to the highest point of the trail, Rodgers Pass, which was about 7600ft. Absolutely gorgeous!

We set up camp that afternoon at “Rita’s Cabin” around 5:30pm and called it a day!

We woke up the next morning and got on the trail again on our way back to Ballarat. Some great views and architecture to be seen!

As the trail came to an end we all met together to say our goodbyes at the general store in Ballarat. No one wanted the weekend to end! In all it was great to meet new people, see some familiar faces, and have an all around great weekend with great people! We can’t wait for our next trip and hope to see some more people come along!

Enjoy!

WAY COOL! That is what a trail run should be... enjoy the outdoors, see some interesting country/ history, some good low range stuff if possible...

Thanks for sharing... I would like to go to Death Valley again... it has been over 30 yeas since my last time!!
