How do/would you treat your brand new truck?

Just curious how everyone might decide to treat their brand new, 0 mile truck in regards to off-roading? Beat the crap out it immediately or take it easy for a while? Photographic evidence is always appreciated!

 

I kept my truck stock until it was paid for....

 

2 months in and still trying to baby mine, but damn is it difficult

 

I put some nice scratches down the right side the first month on a overgrown trail. It's just a truck in my eyes, Ill rebuild whatever breaks. Paint...eehh. I never try and beat my truck up, thats the last thing I want to do. But I push it where I need to go.

 

I like your mindset. I just can't seem to do it.

 

I lick it clean. Every damn day.

 

The older I get the easier I go .. I also seem to have less problems than I use to

 

I treat it like a pickup.

First and foremost, she's a work truck so I can't baby her, I don't try to beat her up but I have to make money. I make it up to her by giving her an awesome detailing, I shit you not, if I have to put a clearcoat finish on, the whole job inside and out can take five hours. I detailed cars in another lifetime and nobody can satisfy me with their work. It's something like making love to your truck, if fact I treat my truck better than I do a lot of people. It's so satisfying that when she's all done and clean, I just have to smoke a cigarette and admire her.

 

same! but i have not had it 2 months yet. she is getting another wash this week and i'm going to wax it.

 

dealership baby till broken in, then straight to easy trails and got some trail rash

 

I did some light mudding the day I drove her off the show room floor so I voted #3

 

Baby it in the street but go hard on the trails.

 

I was wheeling mine while I still had the paper tag on it, so I went option 3.

I did buy a better IFS skid and sliders almost immediately though.

The Tacoma is an outside truck, it does the dirty work ( off road )
My other truck is pampered so I am guilty of both!

 

Don't think it was broke in yet, but went down a few mud roads when there was about 2500 miles on it. I don't beat it by any means. Just like to have fun in it.

 

Its a truck, take it to the trails.


If its going to be slammed and never see dirt then keep it a beauty queen.

 

Mine is a work truck!

It has many boo-boos... Thats how my 3year old calls accidents...lol

1, Big dent at the edge of the cab, no clue how it got there

2, MANY scratches alongside the bed

3, Cracked rear light - the Taco picked a fight with a garbage can and can won

4, Top of the tailgate is torn or gauged in many places

5, Bed cubby is held in by drywall screws

6, Dent/gauge in the tailgate - I have no clue how it got there

7, Stained bench seat from grease, oil, ATF, etc...

8, After few months of ownership I went to Table Mesa (off-road trail). That was right after I got my lift... Shredded the stock Dunlop Grandtreks to pieces on rocks and by doing donuts...LOL

Thats with only 35k miles... I got the truck with 22k miles and the truck was in GREAT condition none of the items mentioned above were there...
