    haha, it's beautiful country up there even for a baron desert. be sure to stop at the ranger station that services that area off of the 14 before the 395. lots of good maps and trail books that can be bought.


    desert tortoise's are plenty up there and throughout that region going east towards the Calico/Barstow area..there's even a special fenced in tortoise preserve just southeast of the El Paso's where they are studied and used for breeding and what not. but don't touch em, disturb them or anything like that...huge fine costing thousands:eek:.
