What SCORE just proposed for the November race looks like a combo of the Baja 500 and San Felipe 250 courses. This year the 1000 stays in the northern end of Baja with a start and finish in Ensenada. This makes watching from more than one location possible. The section between Borrego Wash and San Matias Pass gets used twice!

Indeed! Funniest thing seeing the insanity leading up to the race, followed by the calm while the racers are off in the desert, and then more insanity when the vehicles start rolling back into town. :)

Exactly! I have only been in Ensenada once on the day of the race (when I was in the race!)... As we are usually hundreds of miles down the coarse pitting or watching. The registration and contingency row the day before the race are great, too.

The Score races in Ensenada are awesome! I'll prolly be chasing for Rigsby Class 1 car again, but if I dont I'll be sure to hook up with some of you guys to camp and spectate. It's hard to enjoy and spectate other than at the pits when chasing.
If you've never been you need to check it out at least once, it's great!

Rumor has it that the first four wheeled racers (not quads) will not start until 11:30 am... Trophy Trucks first, then Class 1, etc. This gives the motorcycles and quads lots of time before getting run over by Robby Gordon and others in 800 horsepower machines!

We are hoping he gets to co-drive in one of the trucks... That would be a thrill for sure!

Trophy Trucks were RESTARTED after the race course was blocked... An hour and a half delay in the Baja 1000... It will be a long night!

Here is a sample of the new blips from DirtNewz.com

Latest news go to DirtNewz, here is a sample:

1:01 DIRTnewz: The Trophy Trucks started the race at 12:23 with Jesse James first off the "new" starting line. The class 1's and rest of the vehicles are still sitting here waiting to start the race. It's been almost an hour since the trophy trucks took off the line and the class 1 racers aren't happy! Hey at least the lead cars won't have dust.

Unfortunately the smaller classes will be racing mostly in the dark. This messes up plans for a ton of people. Racers already have their light bars down at Borrego as they planned to put lights on there and have no way of having their chase crews relocate. Due to the two hour delay in start time racers will either have to survive with minimal lighting or relocate their chase crews and light bars...yikes!

    Friday November 18, 2011 1:01 DIRTnewz
    12:48 DIRTnewz: Breauxman reports:

    Through RM 274 baja Pits 7: 1x 11:50
11x 11:54 (still 1 min from the lead- time adjusted)

    Expanded through RM 240:
    1x 11:11
    11x
    0x
    9x
    105x Insley

12:45 DIRTnewz: Class 1's are starting their engines FINALLY about to start the 44th Tecate SCORE Baja 1000

    Friday November 18, 2011 12:45 DIRTnewz
12:44 DIRTnewz: The official restart of the Trophy Trucks was at 12:23

    Friday November 18, 2011 12:44 DIRTnewz
12:41 DIRTnewz: The class 1's are still sitting at the starting line. We just talked to Mike Childress and his co-driver who have been here for over two hours just sitting waiting to start the race.

The smaller classes will basically race this race in complete darkness once they finally take the green flag!

12:29 DIRTnewz: Trophy Trucks have just restarted the Baja 1000!! This is going to be a LONG race!

12:14 DIRTnewz: 15 minutes until Sal will be back at the starting line to restart the class 1 cars. Sal Fish went out past the meyhem to restart the Trophy Trucks and will then head back here to the starting line to start the rest of the vehicles. This has already delayed the race an hour since the original start time.

12:10 DIRTnewz: Breauxman reporting leaders through RM 244

    1x cleared at 11;11
    11 cleared at 11:15
Puts 11x 1 min. behind 1x on time adjusted

11:59 DIRTnewz: Change of plans already...SCORE officials will be parading the Trophy Trucks out past where the obstruction is and they will start out there. We will let you know once this race gets underway
    Friday November 18, 2011 11:59 DIRTnewz

11:50 DIRTnewz: There is a delay at the starting line. A tractor trailer has blocked the race course about a mile off the start after only 13 trucks took off the line. SCORE officials have made the decision to bring the 13 trucks back to the starting line and do the start ALL over again!
