What is that black panel edging ?

My idea was to run a 3/4" wide by 1/8" deep dado on either side of the case and install 3/4" x 3/8" thick UHMW runner strips , the drawer would be a flat bottom box , UHMW strips would project 1/4" above case surface

Haha , I didn't know they were skateboard bearings till I followed the bearing link the OP of that thread provided for them

 

That looks like a pretty good idea, might steal some of it and incorporate it into mine

 

I think the key is that the drawer weight will bear on the UHMW strips fully , and having 2 casters approx 12" apart at the back of the drawer forces the drawer to run parallel to the case , the only limititation would be that the caster portion would have to remain in the case so the drawers wouldn't be " full extension "

How much weight are you planning to put in the drawers? Those casters look like they are rated for 66 lbs each.

66 lbs each but there would be 4 in each drawer and they only actually have to do any work when the drawer is more than 1/2 open , they essentially act as an anti tip mechanism

Here's my first pass at measurements

 

Think about it, two strips on either side of the drawer, four total. Each one 1/2" thick and 1" tall (you could perhaps make it taller too if you wanted. It is only riding on the 1/2", it is supported by the 1"+ attached to the drawer. Then if you are really worried about it supporting the length at full draw, add one or two supporting legs that fold down once the drawer is out. Quick to deploy and store.

There is a massive lever on the last section of the runners in that arrangement when the loaded drawers are open , wood crushes and having legs kind of defeats the concept of having drawers but that's all just my opinion on how I want mine to function
