I know the risks, and yes it's controversial, but in cold weather, we run ours all night on low. It actually provides a nice night light for the whole tent. We have had great success using it this way for a couple years now.

The feet of the heater fit perfectly through the wire rack, it sort of interlocks and makes for a very stable base. Wire rack is adjustable, so you can have any height you desire, I like it about 4" off the tent floor. Wire rack can be found at typical department stores, powder coated black seems very tough too.

Any risk can be easily mitigated by having a battery operated CO alarm in the tent with you. I have a pop up that I use for ice fishing and I'll easily burn through a tank or 2 (1lbs) on high during a day of fishing.

Properly functioning, it should put out no more than 5-15ppm CO. Given that no tent is 100% air tight and you can safely be in an environment of 35ppm over 8 hours, it's a notable risk but not deadly if done correctly.

Yes we do pack a CO alarm with us. We vent the tent with 3-4" sq. hole as suggested by Mr. Heater in the owners manual. In all our experience, with the CO monitor it has never measured anything other than 0 ppm.

I hope you mean CO... ;)

At 35 ppm, it takes about 8 hours for adults to notice any type of nausea or lightheadedness. Up to ~10 ppm is considered normal for a house.

150-200 ppm (depending on length of exposure) is when loss of consciousness or death may occur.

No tune up or whatever. Just the standard out of the box 29LTD BT. If you mean the antennae, then yes, I did the little screw thing on top and tuned the SWR thing-a-majigger the best I could.

A small handful of select mods.
Been looking for containers myself. I removed my tool box from my truck an have decided to breakdown what was in it into stages. Some things stay with the truck all the time others items only when off roading or camping. I would love to get Pelican boxes but find their prices out right offensive. I found a Surplus store on line selling used Pelican boxes and the prices were better except the shipping practically doubled the cost. So... back to square one.

So far I have mounted 2 - 20mm Explosive Cans onto the fender wells and the bed rails of my truck. Cost me $80 and 2 cans of flat black paint. But now I have a box for my tools and a box for my recovery gear. Both stay with the truck all the time. Next I found a really good "Truck Box" at Wally world for $40. It is roughly 24x14x12. It now carries spare parts and fluids. Weigh about 60lbs and only goes in the truck on adventures.

I have a Plano box for some camping gear (32x14x12) and a misc. box for other camping gear. This weekend I saw on a friends rig some other Plano boxes (20x12x12) that I am researching now to replace my misc. boxes. Plano boxes are solid and a good price. Of course the camping gear only goes in the truck when camping.

    Hope that helps!

Pelican 1700 case may work. It's what I've got on my roof rack.

Have been rockin' several of these for some time now. Perfect size (15.4"H x 30"W x 16"L), weather-proof and stackable. 4 of these will fit on my rack perfectly. Cabelas carries em and have seen at costco every now and again. A little pricey at $40, but better than paying $$ for pelican or any of the ameripak extreme cases.

    We use multiple 8 gallon action packers. Size: 19.9"L x 14.1"W x 12.1"H
They are cheap, and you can have separate containers for stuff like the kitchen, dry food, tools, recovery gear, etc. I really like pelican cases, and if I was going to bury camping gear in the mud I would want to use those, but they are so heavy it gets really old lugging them in and out of the truck all weekend.

We use (3) Rubbermaid 18-gallon roughneck plastic storage boxes and (2) 27 gallon yellow top strong box plastic storage boxes. I do use one pelican box bolted to the roof rack as a trash box.
