you should be able to look at the part no's on the warn site for the motors - (look for the parts lists) if they are the same you should be good, if not then most likely the shafts may be different on the motor

I don't know how power hungry the m8000 is but I can tell you from experience that the 9.5xp is fast, strong and hungry. If you ever have to make a hard pull and cannot have engine running you will need more than just one battery.

#1 you ask if they are interchangeable and then you state above that they are completely different so how can the answer be Yes ??

One thing to consider is that you are probably voiding the lifetime warranty, which makes part of these things so spendy.

1 year on electrical
lifetime on mechanical

only works for original purchaser and is voided by modification.

I wasn't aware you hadn't bought the winch new... sorry.

m8000 shouldn't be that expensive - I'd shop around before spending the cash on a swap that may/may not work

Ummm.... whats the reason for the motor swap. Someone said power consumption, not entirely sure what the arguement here is about. I have 2 M8000 no issues ever.
Are you aiming to get the power/strength from the other motor?
I would just get the complete package warn factory built, to ensure reliability and all.
