I like the tactic :) and the truck as a base camp is a nice way to get in deeper quicker!

    Yep

my bro and i use mine for base camp usually. Then go hike in a day, and camp then hike out. It allows you a nice place to crash if you plan on getting back late

Nope you can't go first. Someone with a winch goes first IMO.

Plus you won't just go strait up and ahead of everyone. You'll be slow and we will go up more as a group. Everyone will need spotted around just about every corner. If we have a lot of trucks though you have aplenty of photo ops. The pace is not gonna be fast. Probably take us 4-7 hours just to get up the switchbacks.

Jeeps..with a short ass wheel base. Each corner for each person is not going to be easy. That's gonna slow us down a lot.

Mark I'm looking at between 4-8 rigs

Lol dude then you better either rethink driving it or start practicing how to drive on a steep as grade. Cause there is NO way you will make it up without stopping and backing up a few time for some of the corners

You have to remember that in that vid those are razors. Short wheelbase tight turning radius.

I'm planning for the worst. So yes. 4 hours. If we do better then that. Good on us

Also..I would not classify you as a hard and fast wheeler. Mike is definitely in the slower category. But your not in the fast really. On a flat road yes maybe.

um... your wheelbase (2004 Tacoma) is more like 122"... with a 40ft turning circle.

    While a (2010) 4door wrangler has a 116" wheelbase with a 41.2ft turning circle.
    (2010) 2 door wrangler has a 95.4" wheelbase with a 35ft turning circle.

I don't know where you got your numbers from... Mine came from Edmunds.

The main difference is, if a jeep goes off the trail, no tears would be shed. But if a taco went, well that would be a different story.

Lol that pirate thing is in the OP  those guys also run it 2 times..a year..they know it like the back of their hand.

There is no margin for error. That's what's so awesome.

But your not going to just be able to drive it yourself. The first..idk..6-10 switchbacks you'll probably be fine by yourself. The top tho gets narrower, rougher and loose with steep ledges in the corner. Not going to be able to do those. By yourself.

And I'm not sure how much more planned you can get then what we have..

You like to over plan to much :p just show up with and extra set of underwear and be ready to drive  it'll be fine.

I wonder if they measure the circle made by the inside tires to the outside tires for that and front tire or rear? haha.
