    This makes some sense to me but I suspect it will be difficult to implement. Overall, we will only be as fast as the slowest rig.

    It has been a little bit since we went down and then back up so I am no longer sure on just how long. I think it was about 1.5-2 hours down and about 1or 1.5 hours up. That was with two experienced wheelers with true trail rigs.Shorter (tighter turning) rigs definitely have an edge. I was really wishing for a two door jeep on that trail. lol

    If I may offer some other advice on this trail: I never found a need for lockers on this trail and would recommend people only use them if needed. They will make doing the switchbacks a nightmare. Much of it can be done in two wheel drive actually, though I don’t recommend that. The real challenge is not a "reallyrough" trail but is about the thinness of the road and the view over theedge affecting the heart rate and other bodily functions. J

    The switchbacks are a buggar as they are so sharp that my buddy with a Suzuki Samurai had to jog quite a few times on many of them. The scariest part for me was when I came across boulders which had rolled down and caused me to have to get closer to the edge than I like to get around them. Those same boulders are also the only reason you might need much lift or big tires so hope fully they will be cleared when you go. Rock rails helped me a few times though. This also means there is little need and even less ability to use a winch on this section unless something goes really wrong.

    If you get a large turnout, remember there are very few places to even get around an ATV, on the switches, let alone a full size rig. Nobody gets to come down until you are up and nobody goes up until you are off the switchbacks when you come back down. The remainder of the trail out to Long Lake is very scenic but not hard at all…just a great ride. Hope some of this helps.

    I am interested in joining some of these events, I just have not been off road for a good 20 years and the truck is my DD and brand new... I think I would be too worried about it.

    If anyone ever does a more "leisure", for lack of better term, off roading please let me know. I need to learn to crawl before I sprint.

    You could come along for the first part....I'm trying to plan a less exciting adventure at the beginning of the trip.

    Or I'll put you on my contact list for the MT meets. I like to keep things a little tamer and always plan for the most stock vehicle and least experienced driver.

    Yea what Lisa said. There will be an option for leg 1 for stock rigs. Although I'm pretty sure goose lake will be doable while stock. I'm going to go scout it in July.
