Sorry, that is not true. The bottom of the AP skidplate is the same as our skidplate. :)

All I know is that my whole set of BB's are coming in Friday and I will never trade them for any all pro skids. I know they've beefed up their thickness from before, I guess that is why people refer to All Pro as All-Poo on other forums, but reputation is a bitch to change.

Lots of smack talk about 2 of my favorite vendors in this thread. Both companies make quality products and stand behind what they sell.

In this case each took a different approach to the same problem and came up with a unique solution. I'm happy to have choices.

i'll still be placing my AP skid order next week, but i'll have to go BB on the gas tank. I think that we can all agree to disagree. if u want flat, u go one way and if u want clearance, u go the other. That's all going to be on a per user basis depending on what they plan on doing. Both companies make quality products and as seen on here, they stand behind them. Period....TL time!! lol

Im not talking smack about AP, im talking smack about their skids which are the only product in their entire product line to earn them a poor reputation. AP has arguably the most popular front bumper on the market for 2nd gen tacomas, they have a new long travel kit out which is coveted by many on ttora and here, I believe. AP is an amazing company, but in the past they have taken the low road when designing and manufacturing skids, and now they have learned their lesson. They have corrected their mistake and are now on the long and difficult path of redeeming themselves and changing their reputation.

haha, same with me, Im saving up for an AP Front bumper and Im in the race/contest for the AP long travel kit over on TTORA, i hope my comments about AP skids wont throw me off the ballot, haha. I love both your products! But this is what happens in free market competition, people have the right to choose, and producers learn from consumer preferences. Never wanted to start a fight or argument so sorry if I did!

i run budbuilts and recommend them to everyone...however for a lightly wheeled truck i wouldnt see the harm in someone purchasing the all-pros...

and the fact that they sponsor hodgey makes me want to buy something from them

Sorry, but THAT is not true, ours clears the exhaust itself by only 1/4" - if your statement were the case then your skid would have to be touching the exhaust itself. We do have 2 different approaches to building skidplates - ours are high clearance and lighter weight while maintaining the same thickness because they dont cover empty space, while the BB are low and heavy for the sake of having a flat surface to slide on.

We have made changes as we have developed the current design, improved whenever & wherever possible, and have tested on tougher trails than 95% of the trucks our products are installed on will ever see. We dont feel that settling is good enough, we make changes until an ideal outcome is reached - if we can squeeze an extra inch of clearance or beef it up to make it more durable we will certainly do so. What off road company wouldnt want to continually improve their product line?

Customers driving habits will also play a part in the longevity of any manufacturers part, driving with skill and finesse will cause any part to last longer.

From Jons experience as a world champion rockcrawler, ground clearance is everything and lighter vehicles excel over heavy setups on the trail.

I fixed my post. Sorry for the incorrect info. :(

Correct info on the internet is what we all hope for, right? :)

Terry is right about just different approaches. That is the best part of all of this, we get to build our trucks just like we want to! All Pro makes great stuff and I've run some of their parts on all of my rigs over the years. :) When I start my next build, I want All Pro's long travel suspension for sure! :)

And Terry, I still want some new beefy front half shafts for my Taco like we talked about last summer. I'll buy the first set!
