I have to say, Landcruiser are sweet. Theres a clean one for sale in my town and a worker at my school is building one up. His is kind of a piece but should be decent.

I sold this to get my new RC...she would climb a tree...when it was running!

Looking forward to the reliability of the Taco but will miss the Rover.

BTW it's a 1972 Series Land Rover that I did a four year rebuild on.

The good thing about an XJ is that it has solid axles front and back and it is cheap so you can beat it up without feeling bad. I had a ZJ a while back and it was great. Those have solid axles front and back as well and are also cheap.

I have a 2012 Doublecab 4x4 but it wont see a trail for a long time.....

80 series Land Cruiser would still get my vote. Solid axles, factory lockers, good suspension and comfy ride. Wife/GF won't give you as much crap because they are much nicer those most other rides. You can find them in this $5K price range now. Heck I might sell mine for around that.

Toyota: Pickup, Tacoma, 4Runner, or 80/100 Series Landcruiser.

Each have pros and cons and it would depend on what pros you're looking for and cons you're okay with.

    Stock for now.
I have built a Samurai and yes they are great for a budget. The problem is once you build it you want more. Small wheel base will case rolling though so make sure to cage whatever you get.

I want to built another and just because I want the room i would go with a 4Runner and solid axle the front, Gears and locker and you can go just about anywhere.

Trust me no matter the crawler you will have fun.:D

My ultimate off-roader. 200mph. If you don't have a spot to park, you can blow one out of the hill. Unlimited clearance. Cons: gas mileage and noise.
