I am heading up to Maine in August. I am going to go up 87 in NY then cut thru Vermont along the way.

From my research it seems like there are countless class 4 roads to go wheelin on. Does anyone have any recommendations? I probably only have about 4 days in Vermont so I am trying to get some feedback and spend my time wisely.

Was thinking of taking US 2 across, but also might want to see green mountain national forest. I have about a month to plan the trip out. My only constraint is I have to be in Raymond, ME by the third week of August.

Might try and go as far north as Baxter and the Golden Road while in ME.
