For those of you who haven't see it yet. We just came out with a New Strap for those times when you need to hook to someone or something that does not have any attachment points. [IMG]

I'll make a full list once I get back from lunch

Something you 2nd gen guys really should keep is a spare serpentine belt. They are like $15 and its something you will want if something goes down. I have one in my tool box because my dad drives an FJ and most of my friends all have 4.0s

Where are you getting it for $15????? And what brand??! I'm not one to typically care about brand but $15 seems pretty cheap to me...

When I replaced mine on my old 2nd gen I got a Gatorback one for $15 a few years back and bought a 2nd one at the time. Not sure on the price now since I have a 1st gen currently.

Where'd you get it if you don't mind? This is something I'd carry if I can get one at only $15

I need recovery gear bad. I had a Wyeth-Scott come along in my truck for awhile but one of my cousins decided he wanted it back. Now it sits in his basement collecting dust instead of in my truck where it was actually being used.

Finally blew the motor at 230,000, sprung for a Jasper with 100,000/3 year warranty. The birdpig has a new set of wings! OME heavy load lift kit, Dakar leafs w/AAL, frame mounted energy suspension 4.5" bumpstops, 882 coils, nitrocharger sport shocks, trail gear sliders, addicted offroad front bumper, KC 130w daylighters, Warn M8000, 31" BFG KM2's, custom dents and Nevada pinstripes.
My ground rules for recovery gear are: have two of everything you might need. A person watching you dig could be a person helping you dig. And have two of everything you need to spend the night if you cant get your truck out.
Picks, shovels, dig/pry bars, bolt cutters (sometimes getting through a fence is your only way out, and yes I know that will piss a few people off, but gps and maps don't tell you when a trail ends at a fence after a steep one-way descent) several tree straps, hilift, at least 4 shackles, raingear, down jackets, tarps, tent, sleeping bags, mylar emergency blankets, water, food, several headlamps, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, a dozen pieces of firewood/kindling, a bunch of lighters, extra batteries, and a small chainsaw. I can't even begin to count the times a fallen tree could've ruined my weekend. Chop that pig up and winch the chunks out of the way, doing everybody a favor. My latest idea about a winch blanket has worked out great. You know those bar/restaurant rubber floor mats with the circular holes? Hang it over your winch line, clip a couple of carribiners or zip ties through the holes, and anchor it via a rope to a rock or a tree or a stake so it doesn't travel towards your fairlead while winching. I've never snapped a winch line, but these things would definitely absorb a lot of kinetic energy in the event of a line/strap/shackle failure. They also can work as a traction aid in sand/mud/snow, and an all purpose mat for repairs, showering, unloading gear in mud, sleeping on rocky ground, and are great to throw on top of all your gear in the bed to keep it from flying around on the trails. Find them at a Cash and Carry or any other restaurant equipment wholesaler. I plan on getting a few more to cut into strips for sandtrax style traction aids. Bottom line- it's better to have shit you don't use than to need shit you don't have. Be over prepared, or get stuck and take it. My most valuable emergency tool is my mountain bike. Getting stuck and walking for help sucks, riding a bike is way faster.

What brand are those? Smittybuilts? Personally I prefer the Maxtrax best over any of the other options for traction aids.

Mounted mine up just the other day.
