Roof Rack Mounts

So I've been looking at roof racks and may just go custom at this rate. Anyone know where I can just get the mounting hardware that connects to the stock holes in the roof nicely?

 

access cabs don't have the threaded holes in the roof. you have to drill and nut/bolt it on. riv-nuts work well too.

 

Ah that may be why my searches kept failing, time to go even more custom. Could make it more fun!

Would Thule or Yakima work for you? They have some nice stuff.

 

Im looking to go custom and have it attach to my bed rackt hat will support my RTT. Was thinking to add some extra support on the cab roof for the part that may or may not go up there.

So was just looking for some possible pre fabbed mounts to work with. But it seems that snot an option.... How do the Thule or Yakima ones attach?

Unless you're good at fab work, he'll get it done & solve your lack of tapped holes

Won't be me but i have a good buddy who is amazing at fab work. He will be doing the work while i learn, pass him tools and be more an apprentice.

if I could, I'd do it for a living or at least hang out in the shop building stuff haha

 

What did that rack to to your MPGs? Im looking to put lights on my roof, but I am scarred away to the loss in MPG.

 

What does that thing cost? I looked on the website and its not on there.

Between the rack & the Christmas tree in the back all month I don't even look at my scan gauge. I average 12 mpg on the long trips but if I keep it under 60 ish I do pretty well. It really does roar in the wind but it is well worth it when the sun goes down

Don't really remember. Wasn't terribly expensive & he enjoyed making it. He should still have the cad drawings for a double cab.
He also got a deal on the LEDs around the sides.

 

Quick question about the Toyota roof rack accessory. Do they drill into the roof to attach it to a double cab? Or are the threaded wholes there regardless? Found what i'm looking for at a dealer in Ohio. Only thing it has that I don't really want is the roof rack. But I don't wanna take it off and have to fill in wholes in the roof. Might be a dumb question, but figured i'd ask anyway. Thanks

 

The doublecabs have tapped holes up there already, but without a roof rack, they have a piece of thick tape/ rubber stuff covering the holes up and two black weather strips that clip into the rail.
Only thing I'd worry about is where those tapped holes go when you take the screws out if you dont tape them back up- I worry water would sit in them if they dont drain out through the roof somehow.

before you buy, make them throw in the rubber strips & you're golden
